Must be quiet. Most refrigerators are unacceptably loud. How does this compare?

30 in. W 20 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator in White is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It is not a good refrigator We have been very disappointed on this refrigator. Freezer has always been a problem and does not freeze right. You can get stuff out and is hard as a rock and then the next time it is soft. Using Ice cream as a example. We do not open it through out the day and might open a few times in the evening. Now talking about ice for the last couple of weeks, ice pan will be frozen water with it being solid. A repairman was here yesterday and tried to fix it. Done a lot of things but still the same way. He said the freezer should be 0 but the it shows 16 He is suspose to be back today. By the way all of our appliaces are GE

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not your mom's GE I had an almost identical GE fridge for 15 years. It was still working, but not getting cold enough, so I replaced it with this. I have not even finished loading it, and I already am frustrated with the product. I was told not to buy a GE--they are not as good as they used to be--but in my price range, this was the only one that had most of the options I wanted. Friends recommended a side-by-side, but they cost more and all have an in-door dispenser which I can't use and wouldn't if I could. This fridge is only 1 cu smaller than my old one, but it holds far less and is not as well-designed. There is a lot of waste space in thicker door bins and shelves and the cabinet itself. It has only 5 door bins (instead of 6), the crisper drawers are too high but not deep enough, the shelf configuration is very limited. The lowest rung is only 3" above the crisper drawer shelf, but the next rung up is 8", which puts the upper shelves too high to hold milk, soda, etc.. The metal hook on the upper shelves are so high that they have to go at least 2 rungs above the lower shelf. If I put the tall things in the door, then I have to put a lot of little things on the shelves. I thought the point of the door bins was to hold all those little things, because they get shoved to the back of a shelf where you can't see them . Fortunately, I kept the snack drawer from my old fridge and put a lot of the little things in there. Both the door bins and shelves are very difficult to move, with the door bins getting stuck when you try to take them out or put them in. And like the shelves, they don't adjust to the heights I need, but while the shelves are too close, the bins have a lot of waste space between. The most frustrating thing is that I spent $250 more than I wanted to on this fridge because I wanted the features and I thought I would be unhappy with the lower-priced fridges. Oh, and one more thing: I was told it would cool down in 2 hours. I left food out so I wouldn't have the doors open and it could cool. But it is now almost 5 hours later and the fridge is still far too warm to move dairy products into, so they are in my patio fridge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Perfect Granted my last refrigerator lasted me close to 20 years. This one is the closest to size constraints I have so I purchased it to go with my GE stove. I have lost a tremendous amount of space inside, I am not crazy about the extra wide door storage, everything you read says DON'T put your milk or creamer there, it does not stay cold enough. The crispers are smaller and the thing is just noisy. It actually growls, I growl back! Had it just two weeks now, still trying to adjust to it. I just feel I could have spent $500 instead of $900 and gotten the same space and quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot regulate temperature. I purchased this product in Oct. 2012. It was not possible to achieve a balance between freezer and refrigerator temperature. GE took the refrigerator back and replaced with a new unit. The same problem continues. If you set the temperature to "5" then the lower part of the refrigerator freezes items in the bottom shelf and bins. I lost many food products. If you lower the setting to "4" or so, then the freezer starts to get frost and the ice cream gets too soft. We are so disappointed with this unit. I have changed the temperature setting to every possible level and the balance will not work. I was limited to space 30" wide... so this was the largest amount of cubic feet available. In the future, I will never purchase a refrigerator without separate temperature setting for freezer and refrigerator. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst refrigerator EVER! As many others have mentioned it is impossible to keep the temperature regulated on this refrigerator. I can't even begin to tell you how much food I have lost due to temperature problems. Additionally, every time the fridge door closed the freezer door would pop open and stay there so everything melted in freezer door, and frost formed on everything. The repairman "fixed" this problem by "leveling" it so far backward it now looks as if it is doing the Limbo! Also, the way this fridge is designed leaves way less actual storage space then my previous 18 cu. model. After only 1 1/2 years we are going to buy a new refrigerator.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from temperature controls I agree with one reviewer that the temp control knob does get bumped and changes the setting. Also, just recently my refrig stopped working overnight and refrig section got warm and freezer section started to defrost. Upped the temp control and nothing happened--unplugged and plugged in and refrig started running. Still running but time will tell if it is working properly. Shelves are an arrangement issue and door does need to be open fully to rearrange them--this is a problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shelving & temperature control Not enough room for tall items like milk jugs, bottles unless one would remove one shelf. Should really have gotten 21 or 22 cubic feet instead of 20. Main problem is the temperature control gets bumped removing & putting things in causing fresh veggies/fruits to freeze. Finally put a piece of tape over control to keep it where it should be. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
