washer and lock nut

what's the point to having a washer and lock nut when it's only a tray to catch spills, instead it would need a electric pump to extract the water to send it to the drain. or it would need a electric evaporator coil to evaporate the moister or nothing at all .

If you chose to put a gravity drain or line to a small pump, you would need the small plastic nozzle and the washer and locknut to fit into hole. The washer and locknut would keep the nozzle tight and in place. There are several places where suggested holes might be made, and are indicated by pre-indented impressions. If you didn't put in some kind of drain the moisture could collect on a very small leak and possibly begin to smell and mold the dust bunnies. Without a drain or an automatic shut off device a large leak would overfill the tray and still cause a flood. The best use of the tray is either with a gravity drain line or pump, or an electronic sensor to cut off the water supply.
Slow leaks would probably be an issue with seals at the bottom of the tub or loose water fittings on supply or discharge. Large overflows are usually the result of a malfunctioning water level switch which does not shut off at the proper level and overfills the entire tub assembly. I had this happen and it was very costly as the water volume is huge. Read Less

Answer:
the drain should connected to the house drain system, as your sink is, and the overflow would drain out the house piping system. Some water may lay in the bottom of the panbut the 1" drain would carry the rest away.you are correct in, without hiving the pan piped into the house drain system, it is only a holding tray.

Hello,
This is Donna with GE and I am happy to assist you.
It is the drain for the pan that needs to be plumbed into the house plumbing. A hole needs to be cut into the pan based on the location of the house plumbing. Please see the instalaltion instructions instructions.
I hope this helps!

Answer:
It's not an electric device, it's an optional attachment for connecting to an existing floor drain. Usually either drain into a sewer line or external to the house in case of an overflow.

Hello sagekip - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. I apologize; however, we have not tested this washer floor tray under a deep freezer so we cannot say whether it will work. You may want to check to see if the deep freezer requires some air flow underneath it. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

We do not want to go with a rigid PVC drain line, we want to attach a flexible hose line and run the hose through the floor and to a floor drain in the basement. It needs to be a flexible hose line to bypass the furnace and mechanicals in the basement below.
We are having difficulty finding a hose line that will fit the connector that is provided. Any suggestions for type of hose that would fit, or type of connector that would work to attach a drain hose would be appreciated.
