Is there a cover that goes over the light bulb in the refrigerator?

Asked by: Lynne
Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This refrigerator is a nice model. There is no cover over the light bulb. To change the bulb, you would unplug the refrigerator, reach up behind the the temperature controls and unscrew the light bulb. You would want to replace the bulb with the same or lower wattage. Then plug the refrigerator back in. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Customer Reviews

32.75 in. W 21.0 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator in Bisque is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality with multiple issues First and foremost I would like all to know that my interaction with Home Depot was first class. After 30 years of being a loyal GE customer I will never purchase another GE product. Due to various and multiple issues GE replaced my fridge 3 times. The unit is loud, loud and loud. There were also multiple gasket issues allowing outside air to leak into the freezer causing excessive ice buildup and outside air into the fridge causing excessive running and fresh food freezing. The rear fridge cover would not fit onto the rear panel after the ice maker tubes were installed so I ended up cutting the rear panel to allow it to fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok--so far First of all, I had a GE bottom freezer with inside water dispenser and ice maker--Profile--started having problems with it 6 years in. Finally, @ 9 years--repairman came to fix it and completely killed it. Did some research bc didn't want all those bells and whistles if fridge was going to be unreliable. Was told, get no icemaker and top freezer. This one has no digital display for temperature--less computer = less possible problems. So I have gotten a bare bones model here bc I actually would like it to last a minimum of a decade. This thing takes the same space (almost) as the old one and has the same lines so it pretty much blends with my other appliances but it's such a disappointment compared to what I used to have. But I accept that bc the other one was feces and rife with problems waiting to happen. The fan in the freezer is LOUD--sometimes. It appears to be rattling at some points but sometimes it's quiet. If it weren't for the loudness of the fan, the fridge would be pretty quiet. It looks ok. It's a little smaller than the other one. It's not cool (aesthetically) like the other one but it's ok. I may call in a couple days and ask if there's anything they can do about the rattling. I might get used to it but right now (day 1) it's annoying.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Here is the truth: the good, the bad, & the so-so We waited 13 days for our bisque colored GTH21GBEBCC refrigerator. Bought it sight unseen to replace our 16-year-old Kenmore branded Whirlpool model 106.67067791 [miss that fridge even more now that I have my GE]. The good parts of my GE: bisque is almost like the almond, just faintly lighter and has the nice textured front surface. The veggie/fruit crisper bins are evenly divided, it is an Energy Star appliance with an estimated $44./year to run, and it makes no more noise than my past Kenmore. Great. =) The items I need to get used to: The doors are convex [curved outwardly]. The top of the freezer door is in an arch shape—3/8” higher in the middle than on either side. That is just enough so I can’t see the top of the fridge. The fat door handles stick out more than my past Kenmore. Only 2 movable shelves and they slide partly out if wanted. The shelves are not as deep because they make the door shelves deeper. I have more shelf needs than door needs. Crazy design, as we are told to NOT store milk in the door, as it is the warmest part of a refrigerator. Now for the frustrating, but these seem to be typical for fridges under $2,000: The fruit/veggie crispers are a bit more shallow than my Kenmore, hence hold less. And the BIG Grrrr: the shelves are made of clear plastic with bendy-plastic supports. No, there is NO strong glass and no metal support rod. This results in bowed shelves. [I’m used to sturdier plastic and glass shelves]. Little Tikes toys are stronger. ;( The meat/deli/snack bin is on the shallow side and it does not slide out very far. The freezer rack is made of vinyl coated wimpy metal that bends/bows with any weight on it. There is NO freezer light. And, last but not least: I’m having trouble getting correct coldness settings in the freezer and refrigerator. Two refrigerator thermometers are used to check this. I get 40F in the fridge and 5F in the freezer at setting #4-. At setting #4, I get 38F on one fridge shelf and 36F on the other [& frozen romaine], with 0F in the freezer. Although there is a separate dial in the freezer, if you turn it up a notch, the temperature drops in the refrigerator. But again, these seem to be typical for fridges under $2,000. So, compared to the rest, it is no better or worse. I’ve listened to a number of my friends with similar disappointments in their refrigerators bought after 2006 to present--even having a 7 year old $2000. fridge die. How I miss my 16 year old Kenmore. Yikes, so for the first time in my life I bought a 3 year warranty extension. They do not make them like they used to.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very loud refrigerator I bought it couple of months ago and it is got much louder since. I am going to have to call GE to have it checked out. I read the reviews about this refrigerator (thanks) but I had to buy it because I have a small kitchen and all my other appliances are GE model. Inside of the refrigerator is built cheap but the exterior looks good. However it is very roomy and it keeps meat and vegetables fresh. I can not believe that GE can build awesome Jet engines but can't build a quiet compressor. The refrigerator just shut itself off, it is much quieter now. Not kidding you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy. Faulty made. Quits in 13 days When you spend over $$$$ on a NEW product, a normal customer thinks it is reasonable to expect a correctly made, correctly functioning product to be delivered. Thirteen days after delivery the freezer stops working as does the refrigerator. All the freezer food is ruined, as the temperature is 54 degrees and the refrigerator is 56 degrees. If made correctly there in NO need repair it. Real great- NOT! The thing looks nice. But the shelves in the refrigerator bend with weight on them, having no metal support and not strong plastic. The metal shelf in the freezer also bends with any weight on it. No freezer light. The snack/deli bin doesn't slide out far enough. The shelves are shallower because the door shelves are deeper. The temperature was 5 in the freezer and 40 in the fridge prior to it ceasing to cool/freeze. Trying to adjust it a tiny bit lower just resulted in frozen lettuce.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst appliance I have Ever Owned The freezer's evaporator motor had to be replaced immediately after delivery due to a loud vibration/noise. Two months after the warranty expired, the freezer evaporator motor began making noise again, so loud in fact, that I have to turn the refrigerator off for an hour or so just to get a break from the noise. It is unbelievably loud! There is also frost building up in the freezer compartment and behind the rear wall of the freezer. Our local appliance repairman has been trying to get the parts for us for a month now, and says it is impossible to get the remaining part required from GE. He thinks they may be redesigning the part. However, I can wait no longer, and will be buying a different brand of refrigerator. I will never buy a GE appliance again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected from a GE product We got our new refrigerator 3 months ago and have been pretty unhappy with it so far. We have owned several other GE products and have always been pleased. However, not this time. This 'fridge is a disappointment. The freezer always freezes up and gets caked up with thick layers of ice. I have to periodically chop the built- up ice away. Everything in the freezer gets covered with what looks like snow! We keep the freezer on the lowest setting to prolong the amount of time between defrostings. As for the fridge, we also need to keep that on the lowest setting or everything freezes. I recently put a roast chicken in the fridge and the next morning it was frozen solid!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissapointed The refrigerator is just average. The temperature control for the refrigerator is located on the ceiling of the compartment and sticks down. Every time I put a gallon of milk or a bottle in I hit it. Everything was freezing until I realized what was happening. Everthing on the bottom back shelf freezes anyway with the temp turned down.
