Does the model GDSC3KCYBB require a water filter for the ice maker?

Read the online user manual and was not clear if it required one or not. It only stated model 22.

Your specs show freezer capacity at 6.7 cf & fresh food capacity of 22.9 with a TOTAL capacity of 22.7???? Your total is less than the fresh????

Hello Saran, this is Sheree from GE and thanks for your interest in our GE 22.9 cu. ft. 33 in. wide bottom freezer refrigerator in black, model # GDSC3KCYBB. I am sorry about the mistake on the website. The total capacity is 22.7 with fresh food capacity 16.3 and the freezer capacity at 6.4. The math should work now. Thanks for pointing this out to us and buying our GE products!

Customer Reviews

33 in. W 22.7 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator in White is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Usability As an adult, the bottom fridge with top freezer is just plain painful. Squatting and bending to see what is on the shelves is just not happening. Side by sides seem to have less usable space for larger trays (ie pizza boxes) and restaurant doggie bags. This GE is one of the most usable appliances we own and has quickly become one that we enjoy using. Deep door shelves takes easy care of gallon jugs and 2 liter bottles that used to clutter up the shelves. Smaller jars and bottles also fit neatly on door shelves leaving the main storage shelves for boxes, tubs and containers that we struggled with in our side-by-side. 2 things that seems to be just "ok" and that led me to an overall rating of 4 stars: 1. This model does not have a water dispenser (something we became dependent on with our old fridge) and 2. the fridge box seems to stay adequately cold, but the thermostat must be on the highest setting. Seems that if we were to put a hot tray into the box that the temp would drop to an unsatisfactory level. Overall, while I didn't enjoy spending almost $1200, the refrigerator seems to do what we need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Overall Fridge I like this fridge, we've owned it for over a year. It's reasonably quiet. I love the cleansteal vs. stainless steal as it doesn't show smudge marks or fingerprints from the kids. It does however dent. Good use of space. I would buy this again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Refrigerator is fine, but disappointed in the freezer. We previously had a GE bottom freezer refrigerator which we loved, but the compressor went on it before it was 10 years old. We thought this refrigerator was a comparable replacement. We really do not like the freezer. Our old freezer had shelves and this freezer is more like a chest freezer. We loved our old ice maker. The ice from this ice maker is in a drawer. Whenever we open the drawer, ice falls out and goes back into the freezer or onto the floor, which is a pain to always clean up. The actual refrigerator is fine, and we love having the freezer on the bottom, but for the money we are quite disappointed in it overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! I love it except for the fact that when you close the freezer the fridge door comes open. But other than that, it's GREAT!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT BUY! Did a lot of searching for the product to meet our needs and so far this GE refrigerator meets all of them. The delivery went smoothly and this pleased us totally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super quiet bottom mount This is my first bottom mount refrigerator, it replaced an aging top mount GE Profile with ice and water dispenser. The energy guide number for the new refrigerator is about half that of the old one. This new model is the quietest refrigerator I have ever owned. The ice maker did not work properly until I noticed the water line was hooked up to my RO system which had not been serviced in a long time. Bought new filters, flushed the water valve and presto I had ice. The ice maker makes more ice then I expected. This refrigerator is huge and fits my tight space perfectly. I highly recommend this model for the size and price it can not be beat. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't like the Freezer too much open space/ice drawer a pain too Too much space wasted in Refrig. bulky dividers for both doors & shelves. Like to use snack drawer for Meat, too shallow to fit most in though, what happened to MEAT DRAWERS? Don't use ice maker, drops ice in Drawer to shallow, top drawer for whatever is too small to put much in. Need better guard for freezer light bulb, 1st time used broke bulb + a pain to remove.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love the bottom freezer! I love the bottom freezer. The only thing that would be helpful in the bottom freezer drawer are dividers. It is a little bit difficult to keep items organized. I love having items I use at my level in the refrigerator. The fruit and vegetable drawers are right there when you open the door. So convenient. It keeps everything very cold. We replaced another GE top freezer refrigerator that was 13 years old that finally gave out. I was a little worried as everyone says the quality is not what it used to be. But so far, so good. We have had the fridge for about 4 months. The only complaint other than organization are the knocking noises it makes occasionally. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
