My GE front loader also does not use enough water. Can't wait to get a top loader. I add 5 gallons of water to every load through the dispenser drawer just to get it to actually swish around and clean the clothes. Without it, nothing gets clean. Very frustrating!

The water level is automatically matched to the load. There is no place to adjust on front loaders (that I am aware of anyway).

Hello,

There is not any way to adjust the water level on the frontload washer. The washer offers Adaptive Fill and the water level is determined by the weight of the clothes. Frontload washers do not require the tub to fill with water like top load washers. If the clothes are wet the machine has filled properly. The clothes should look like someone placed them in a bucket of water, removed them and placed them in the washer. This is the proper amount of water for this type machine.
It is important to use HE detergent. Liquid or powder HE or High Efficiency detergent deliver superior cleaning performance while saving water and energy. HE detergents are specially formulated for high efficiency washers to provide excellent whitening, stain removal and clothes care.
A low-sudsing formula—allows you to use a full scoop of detergent to get your clothes clean without creating suds you don’t need.
I hope this helps. Thank you for considering GE! Read Less

My diaper routine in this washer is:
1 Speed cycle on Cold - no detergent, normal soil, no spin (33 min)
1 Stain Wash on Hot - add detergent, take off "pre-wash" add extra rinse (2 hours 45 min)
Once machine adds some water, add 5 gallons of hot water through dispenser drawer.
Enjoy clean diapers!

Yes it does a very small one. However the small amount of water that it uses is easily heated by the even smaller element saving tons of electricity compared to our older washer.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 100 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very happy so far! I've only had my washer for 2 days so far but I am impressed already. The water usage is so much less than my old top load washer. I cannot wait to get my next water bill to compare the difference. I absolutely love the vibration control on this, I can hardly tell it is even on, and I no longer have to feel the whole house shaking and listen to the banging noise during spin cycles. The wash cycles are longer than what I am used to but my clothes do seem cleaner and smell so much cleaner and fresher. Also, I have a large household so the large capacity and the different washing options are great too! Its a beautiful machine. March 17, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Large Washer I hae had this unit for about a month and it will wash everything that I have shoved into it. It will wash comforters and 5 pairs of jeans at once. My old washer would walk the floor trying to wash clothes and we had finally had enough of it and purchased this new one. I love the fact that if you choose to use the high speed spin cycle it gets all of the water out of the clothes and saves you time on the dryer. I like all of the different cycles that it has because sometimes when you are in a rush to get the clothes washed you can use the speed wash and they are done in 30minutes. So far I really like this machine. November 15, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Really Good! This is a great washer with a great price! The energy efficiency is awesome! My only problem is the right to left opening door that is not reversible. Every house I've ever owned has the water for the washer on the right and the dryer vent on the left. With the doors set to default for both dryer and washer, the doors smash in to each other like two freight trains one heading from New York at 90MPH and one coming from Chicago at 110MPH. I reversed the dryer door so they swing like synchronized swimmers, but what I'd really like are the doors to open away from each other. Other than that, great washer! August 31, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So Happy Washer looks terrific and was a little confusing to use the first time. Needed to look at the manual to determine where the soap and fabric softener goes. Machine is quiet and only a little soap is necessary. The down side, the washer started leaking from below the door after about a week. Called Home Depot customer support and they had the GE guy come out and so now the problem is pending....washer is on a time out for 24 hours and then we will try again. Delivery guy was Terrific! Swapped placement of washer and dryer so the doors open to each other! Very happy with washer overall! September 27, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product but even better value For the price, this is the washer to own. We have had the washer in place for almost 2 months. Our water bill has reduced about 4% and our electric bill has reduced about 2%. The clothes come out cleaner and with less water which equates to less drying time. We also ran towels that had been soiled in our old washer and they came out like new smelling amazing and soft as ever. We are doing in 1 load what used to take us 3. Would definitely recommend this washer. Only con: The gasket surrounding the door has poor design. Water collects on the plastic rim and if the door is left closed the water will mildew and smell. We just leave the door cracked slightly while not in use and we have had no issues. May 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Washed my clothes This washer has served me well. I am on this website looking for bolts. Remember to save all bolts for future use! January 4, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected for the price The buttons and functionality are very intuitive and easy to use. I believe that this washer is very energy efficient, however, maybe too much so. It uses so little water that I'm not sure it's really getting the clothes clean. My son wet his pants and I immediately threw them in the washer with about 5 other items to make a small load. When the pants came out of the wash, after the "extra soil" setting, the pants still smelled of urine, very disappointing. The washer is also quite loud and takes 55 minutes for a regular size load. I'm not impressed with this machine. October 29, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE it! I ordered this at my local HD on Labor Day, took 3+ weeks for it to arrive, but it was more than worth the wait. I'd had my top loader for 15 years and it was on its last legs. The other half talked me into a front loader. I am SO glad he did. I read comments about an odor in the machine, what I smelled was a new gasket smell. I do follow leaving the washer and detergent doors open after running. No odor problem for me. I am amazed at how much cleaner my clothes are in much much less water. My water softener usage has dropped immensely. We bought the dryer too, and cannot get over how quickly the clothes are finished. We got the pair with delivery for less than 1K on the LD sale with an additional discount. LOVE THEM!
