Customer Questions & Answers

Why are my clothes steaming hot when the wash cycle finishes?

I purchased this washer and the matching dryer about a month ago. I love it, but there's one weird thing - when the wash cycle finishes, my clothes are steaming hot. Shouldn't the rinse be cold water?
Asked by: Christine
Hello Christine - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. Yes, the rinse cycle should be performed in cold water. We recommend to have your installer come back out and verify that the inlet hoses are not reversed. Please be certain to disconnect the power to the washer prior to performing any trouble-shooting. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

How can I know the machine is spinning as fast as it should?

My towels are not coming out as dry as in my old washer that had 1200 rpm, this one has 1300 rpm.
Asked by: spinning
Hello spinning - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. Please disconnect power to the washer at the main power supply prior to performing any maintenance or cleaning. If the clothes are too wet, first check that the load was not out-of-balance. If washing a small load, try increasing the load to see if this helps, but the dry weight of the clothes should not be more than 16 pounds. Check the pump filter to make certain it is not clogged. Make certain that the drain hose is not kinked or bent or that the household drain is not clogged. Verify there is an air gap between the hose and the drain. Lastly, verify that the shipping bolts were removed from the washer. I hope this helps! Should you require additional assistance, please contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737. Thanks for choosing GE Appliances!

Does this model have a Pre-soak cycle?

Asked by: JD
Hi JD-this is Sue from GE Appliances. The washer features Add Steam option (adds steam into the washer to assist with loosening stains), PreWash (an extra wash before the main wash. Use it for heavily soiled clothes or for clothes with a care label that recommends prewashing before washing), and Stain Removal (pre-programmed with the ideal wash and rinse settings to tackle five common stains). It does not features Pre-Soak. Thanks for checking with us!

Right at the 1 year mark, the washer stopped filling with water. The tech found that the detergent dispenser motor had broken. If the dispenser doesn't go through its cycle, then it won't fill with water. The tech showed me the motor. It was super cheap plastic. The cog that moves the dispenser had slipped out of position. He clicked the cog back into place and it worked. 2 months later the same thing has happened. This washer is expensive and should work for years without a problem. Now, their poor design and quality control has become my liability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall solid purchase I purchased this washer about a year ago. Pros: It overall works very well. Clothes are cleaned well and haven't had any damage to items. I really love all the different features/options on this washer. F Cons: Machine is on the louder side. We have a condo and when machine is in spin mode you can definitely hear it throughout the condo. I was even concerned neighbors would hear and complain, but they luckily can't. Also, after washing the door has to be left open otherwise you get a musty smell from the moisture after washing a load of clothing. Overall: It was a good purchase for the price. Would not purchase if you are living in close quarters due to the noise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Major disappointment We bought this washer a few months ago. About every third load of laundry that I do comes out COMPLETELY SOAKED (and I mean dripping wet). On top of that, there's no spin only cycle option where you could spin the clothes again in an effort to get the excess water out. Your only choice when this happens is to run a rinse and spin cycle, which is a total waste of water since the clothes are already clean at that point. I've never spent so much money on a product to be so disappointed. We are going to get rid of it and buy a new one but it certainly won't be a GE!
