Hi mike- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Yes, while they were not specifically designed as a stackable match, the dryer will physically fit on the washer. Since they are different production years, the appearance will not match. Thanks for checking with us!

I purchased this washer and the matching dryer about a month ago. I love it, but there's one weird thing - when the wash cycle finishes, my clothes are steaming hot. Shouldn't the rinse be cold water?

Hello Christine - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. Yes, the rinse cycle should be performed in cold water. We recommend to have your installer come back out and verify that the inlet hoses are not reversed. Please be certain to disconnect the power to the washer prior to performing any trouble-shooting. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Answer:
Yes. Check to see if your cold water hose is restricted or plugged. Also make sure the hoses aren't switched. Cold to C, hot to H. If all is correct there's most likely a problem with the washer.

Answer:
no.. not steaming hot.
The installer installed the hot water to the wrong valve on the washer-- probably the first possibility.
So-- more that likely--t: hot water is hooked up to the wrong valve on the washer-- easy to make this mistake.

If the clothes are too wet, first check that the load was not out-of-balance. If washing a small load, try increasing the load to see if this helps, but the dry weight of the clothes should not be more than 16 pounds. Check the pump filter to make certain it is not clogged. Make certain that the drain hose is not kinked or bent or that the household drain is not clogged. Verify there is an air gap between the hose and the drain. Lastly, verify that the shipping bolts were removed from the washer. I hope this helps! Should you require additional assistance, please contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737. If you are using the proper setting, your towels should come out almost stiff. It takes less than 15 minutes for me to fully dry a huge load of towels after they come through the max spin cycle of the washer

Did you set the spin to Max?
When you do it should spin the fastest.Check the specs and that should give you how fast it spins at max.

Answer:
My machine spins properly-- the cloths are always "almost" dry after the highest speed-- You must assure that you have toggled over to the speed setting that you want, in this case , push the button until "max" is lighted. My towels are barely damp after this cycle--
You may have to check that there is no water in the tub-- make sure the washer is draining all of the water out.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 621 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Did Not Meet Expectations for the Brand and Price The original installation went well, but the washer was not leveled properly. The company who installed the washer needed to return. Stated that the washer was level, but the washer was still very noisy during the spin cycle and when the washer drained. Needed to set up ANOTHER service call with a GE technician. The GE technician had to level the washer (apparently it was not level the first two times) and checked all other parts. The washer is still very noisy when it's draining, but the GE technician said that it was normal for this particular brand of washer. The spin cycle is still somewhat loud depending on the type of load that is being washed. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Had for about two years now I have been meaning to come back on the HD site to write a review. Usually never do unless I am truly impressed with a product. It has to perform. I am very impressed with this unit. So little water is used you wonder how it can wash your clothes, sheets, blankets etc. but it does. No mechanical problems with it at all. I would rather buy a GE than a foreign job (even if most of it is probably sourced outside the US), but was a little worried about quality. This washer exceeded my expectations. May 31, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Loudest washer I've ever had My home warranty company offered us this washer when our previous one wasn't worth fixing. We were very excited about it until we ran it. When it is on the spin cycle it sounds like a runaway train. We have only had it 4 months. We had it leveled and it didn't make much difference. The level says it is fine so that is not the problem. Not too happy that we have to close the door whenever the washer is running. June 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Design on Spider Although we needed a stackable pair washer and dryer because of space, and we had trusted the GE name, it turned out that all front loaders have a spindle and spider to support the drum. That spindle and spider is in chlorinated, soapy, chemical rich water at least half of the time. If a load gets out of balance, then it also is aided by gravity and cracks the spindle (since it was aluminum and corroded by the chemically treated water is substantially weakened). GE ONLY SELLS replacement spindles and drums. This cost me $800 to repair, less than 4 years after purchase. They could have stamped the spindle out of stainless like the drum!!!! Inexcusable, but from a profit and repair point of view, double the cost to the homeowner. April 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Grade: F This washer worked ok for about four months before breaking down. First they thought it was a pressure switch and then a control board. Both parts were replaced but neither made it work again. We are now three weeks without a working machine. GE support is understaffed, but at least helpful. Home Depot "service" is laughable. Its all outsourced with no home depot representative willing to take proper responsibilty. Questioning the decision to buy from home depot and not a more dedicated appliance store. March 3, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy It sounds noisier than my previous GE front loader. It's noisy even when it is filling with water. March 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolute failure Out of the Box Our machine failed right out of the box-- It squeels, it shakes, it makes an approximate 150 decibel mechanical noise from first start up. The parts are not available (of course) and it may be a month to repair-- since the parts are ordered and a repair is scheduled for the second visit ( since the first visit was , yep! it's broken .. I'l be back in 2-weeks), I am sorry to have bought it. Then-- It requires a stacking kit that the sales person lectured us about for 10-minutes and then forgot to add to the order, which took an additional 10--days to get. It is a sad tale. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, smart design and energy saving I bought this GE washer to replace Samsung washer. I bought Samsung washer 4 years ago. Then spider hold the drum to motor was broken. It costs at least $800 to repair since it has to be took all parts off. Even you can do yourself, it doesn't deserve to repair since it would broken next 3~5 years. Suppose Samsung should redesign the spider to pass the durability test(I don't know if they test it. They might just copy competitor's designs). However the part is discontinued. After install new GE washer, my Samsung's dryer didn't run. Samsung is new company in appliance, has no experience, bad design and services. I wouldn't buy south Korean products any more(I had troubles with their TV, dishwasher too). Let talk about GE. 1. convenience, door is bigger for same size of washer so it is easy to put in and take out. 2. Excellence design. a) it uses high speed spin during rinse. Rinse is more efficiency. b) After spin, all clothes are loose other than stick on drum like Samsung's. c) All processes during washes take less time in between. 3. Energy efficiency. One I could measure is less dry time. Since GE use high speed spin(I set up in the second high speed as same as using Samsung's), using same setup for dryer, 20 min less to dry. 4. Easy to maintain and good service. From GE website, you could see problem diagnoses, part assembly. You could do everything for yourself. 5. Price lower. It costs more than $200 less than Samsung bought 4 years ago, Samsung started lower when they came to US market at beginning but it still costs more than $800. GE is great company and is making great products. I love US designs. March 22, 2016
