The salesman at Home Depot told me that this range is required to be hard-wired. I have not heard of that. Just wondering if it is true.

No that is not true. Typical plug. BTW I've been using this for a few years and would HIGHLY recommend buying something else - it's complete junk.

Hi RSC1976, this range is designed to be hardwired, however you can install either a 3 wire or 4 wire power cord depending on the outlet in your home.
I have yet to see a hardwired range in a residential home.
Here is the wiring instructions.

Answer:
Hello Laurco. This is Richard from GE. The JS750SFSS has push-to-turn knobs. You must push the knob in and then turn it. There is not a child-proof feature or option for the knobs on the range. The JS750SFSS does have a Lock Controls option. The Lock Controls option locks out the oven control panel so that pressing the pads does not activate the controls. Thanks for the interest in our range!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleasing to the eye We bought this as our last appliance that needed replaced in our kitchen. So far we love it. pros: beautiful convection feature knobs in the front so you don't have to reach for them over boiling water all the features for cooking you could almost want heat element protected from spills steam cleans with water you can use inner ring for small pots option which saves energy cons: flimsy bottom drawer heat exhaust in the front blows on you ( though probably nice feature in winter ) cook top not easily cleaned hardwired so you need to buy a not included plug for outlet fan blows for quite a while after turning oven off August 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stove for great price Stove was easy to install and has all the features we wanted for a good price! Home Depot delivered it and took our old one away which was really handy. August 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by happy wife My wife wanted a stove like we purchased for our last house so she did. It is almost the same model with a few differences' and the so called back filler strip was cheap and didn't work well or look good. I made my own. My wife is very happy with the stove. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Check your counter depth before purchase Overal I'm loving the new stove. Absolutely beautiful and I love not having my nice tile backsplash covered up by the control panel. This almost looks like a built-in unit and really opened up my kitchen. Also love how easy it is to adjust the feet so the edges rest down on your countertop eliminating that terrible gap where food falls down. I didn't realize until after we purchased it and tried to install it that our new counters must be extra deep. There is a large 3" gap at the back that we are still trying to fill. But I'm still thrilled to have gotten this on sale. We use the lockout feature to keep curious toddler fingers from pushing buttons on the control pane. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GE slide in range Replacement of another slide in. The oven works better than the Frigidare it replaced. Surface burners fit of our pot and pan bottoms. The bridge feature is really just 2 elements with nothing in between. Nice appearance but the bottom drawer is cheaply made with no handle so finger prints are a problem on the stainless drawer front October 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice range We have had this range for over a year now. I really like this range. The touch pad is glass and I like that it only requires you touch the buttons. There is no manual contact to wear out underneath the buttons. The function of the touch pad works well too. Setting the oven temperature (Regular or Convection) is very easy. You just touch Bake, then enter in the temperature you want via the touch number pad. It chimes when the entered temperature is met. The built in temperature probe is also turned on via the touch pad. This allows you to keep the oven door closed till the probe sensor signals your desired food temperature has been met. I like that you can switch back and forth between the timer and the oven temperature readout. The burner buttons are analog except for the warmer burner, and they have been working well. We use the warmer burner alot. It offers three heat settings which are set via the touchpad. Iv'e had no trouble with the touch pad and inadvertant touches as some have commented on. The touchpad lockout makes cleaning the glass pad very easy. This range has exceeded my expectations. I like it a lot. By-the-way, when we bought this, Home Depot matched the lower price advertisement from the other big box store at the local mall. We also purchased the matching microwave that also has a regular convection oven built in above the range. We now have a two oven kitchen which was a big help for Thanksgiving. This range gives us more storage space over our old drop-in range that didn't have a bottom drawer like this one. Time will tell if everything will hold up over time, but so far it's been great. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stove Our old stove finally gave up and we bought this one on sale. My wife loves it after using it for a week. She has used the convection oven and says it cooks faster than the old convection oven. overall very happy with it so far. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice range, with a couple of caveats We've only had this range for a short time but here are my impressions: Pros -- It's beautiful and works as it should. And most of the burners (see below) heat up very quickly. Cons -- It's more work to keep the glass top clean than our old range was, but that would probably be true with any of the newer smooth-top ranges. The top is also fragile; we've been extremely careful about treating the glass with "kid gloves," but there's already a small scratch on one of the burners as well an another small mark on the control panel. They're not horrible, but they're there. Also, the smallest inner burner on the lower left triple burner needs to be turned up quite a bit to get hot. The stove is still very new to us, but all-in-all, I'm fairly happy with it so far. March 8, 2016
