Baking unevenly

I bake every week and have noticed that my muffins always brown faster in the back right hand corner than in the middle and the front. My oven seems to be baking unevenly. I love my new stove but, it is a problem as I bake every Friday for the public. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried turning the temperature down and placing foil on top but, that has not helped.

I would like to know if the heat from the range top will be too hot for this type of countertops, since it has a slight lip that will lay on top of these counters.

What's causing the gap at the back of the stove?

This question is from 4.4 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel
Asked by

My cabinets are a standard depth at 25 inches deep. I've read multiple customer feedback commenting on a gap between the back of the cooktop and the wall. One of the GE responses included the depth measurements at 25.75 inches without the handle and 28.5 inches with the handle. If the space is 25 inches deep and the range is 25.75 inches deep (deeper than the average counter depth - w/o the handles), what is causing the gap at the back of the stove? Are there elements that stick out of the back of the stove not allowing it to be flush with the wall?

~Maintop Filler Kit---You also have the option of a maintop filler kit. This is used to fill the gap between the range back and the wall. It can only be used when the opening in the counter top is 25 inches deep. You cannot use this kit and a backguard kit.

Answer:
The stove comes with a strip that is to be attached to the back to fill in the gap -- was that installed for you? Even with the strip installed, we had about 3/8" left but that was just enough to install a tile backsplash.

Will this model fit with counters 35.5 inches tall in a 30 inch wide space?

I have a thick granite counter top and there are exactly 35.5 inches from the counter top to the floor. Does the counter have to be 36 inches from the floor for this model to fit? Can the range height be adjusted? Also I have exactly 30 inches of width to work with; will the range fit these dimensions?

Hi TallGall,
I am happy to help. This model will work with a countertop 35-7/8"-36-1/2" from the floor to countertop. It is also 30 inches wide. Thank you for checking with us.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not fit The cooktop is wider than the range. It would not fit into my cabinets. Returned July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE always rates high with me Nice features, looks great and works wonderfully. E December 19, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Take a long look before buying After actually using this range for a number of days now, I find I am very happy with many of its features and not at all happy with others. First the pros - it was easy to install, looks great (white), and is easy to operate. I love the fact that it has a warming eye on the cook top, as well as an adjustable eye (front right) that can be used for quick boiling, and three different size pots. The oven is well lit and roomy. The buttons are easy to operate. Cons - The air from the stove vents out at the top of the stove door, so if you are cooking on the stove top while baking, you will be extra hot. All stove top burners run super hot; so even when set on low to keep something simmering, it boils. Also, the stove top itself is black and it looks great if you can get all the smudges/fingerprints off of it. It is like a smudge magnet. So if you are OCD about having a clean stove top, this is probably not the unit for you. One last con, the front of the oven looks cheap. It actually looks like there are parts missing on the sides of the oven door and between the bottom drawer and oven door. These are just things I didn't notice when purchasing this online. I guess I will never be this brave again - to purchase something this expensive without seeing it in the store first. This unit was not available in the store, however, so I took the risk. Once the unit has been signed for upon delivery, there is no return or exchange option. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stove; wish manufacture would take care of fit-and-finish Very please with this stove. However, the fit-and-finish leaves something to be desired. The closure panel to left of oven door opening failed T&F on both stoves we had delivered. The stamping dies for this panel need to be reset. April 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New Stove Review The stove fit perfectly in the desired location. The controls are easy to understand and use, and the burner set up is superior to other stoves that we have used July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by slide in range The range works fine however the tracking on the bottom drawer is not as good as the range it replaced. The previous GE slide in had rollers on the bottom drawer and it was much smoother. July 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Check your counter depth before purchase Overal I'm loving the new stove. Absolutely beautiful and I love not having my nice tile backsplash covered up by the control panel. This almost looks like a built-in unit and really opened up my kitchen. Also love how easy it is to adjust the feet so the edges rest down on your countertop eliminating that terrible gap where food falls down. I didn't realize until after we purchased it and tried to install it that our new counters must be extra deep. There is a large 3" gap at the back that we are still trying to fill. But I'm still thrilled to have gotten this on sale. We use the lockout feature to keep curious toddler fingers from pushing buttons on the control pane. June 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Buyer Beware All is well EXCEPT had I known that the ceramic glass top would scratch and mar badly (and this is with gentle use of the stove top) I would've purchased a different GE product stove with a different surface top. So, in other words, if you gently slide a pan on the surface, it most likely will permanently scratch/mar the stove top and no cleaning products will remove this whatsoever. July 15, 2016
