Hello Babs7075,
I am happy to help. Canning should be done on surface units only. Normally, pots that extend beyond one inch of the cooking element's trim ring are not recommended for most surface cooking; however, when canning with a water-bath, pressure canner, or pressure cooker, larger diameter pots may be used. This is because boiling water temperatures (even under pressure) are not harmful to cooktop surfaces surrounding the surface units.
Note: Do not use large diameter canners or other large diameter pots for frying or boiling foods other than water.
Observe the following points in canning:
Be sure the canner fits over the center of the surface unit.
Flat bottomed canners must be used.
When canning, use recipes and procedures from reputable sources. These are available from canning jar manufacturers and county extension offices.
Remember that canning is a process that generates large amounts of steam and heat. Use extreme caution.
We appreciate you checking with us.

I am looking at Model JS630DFCC, slide in range in "Bisque". What color is the cooktop? Specs say bisque on bisque, but picture shows black on bisque. Also in a previous answer it was stated that this is not available in other than black on bisque. And there has even been some mention of "speckled". What are the color choices for the cooktop if ordering BISQUE??

Hi Sam- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Slide-in Ranges. We apologize for any confusion regarding the cooktop. The glass cooktop has bisque speckles on black glass. This is the only option in bisque. Thanks for checking with us!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 62 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Slide in oven As it is a slide in oven. It would be nice if they were standardized in size to counter top and height. Had to have the granite counter top cut. Once this little tid bit was accomplished the stove sat high above the counter. Had to take off the plastic adjustors. Then it sat too low and had to place spacers underneath the bottom to lift up even to the countertop. The bottom rails did have areas to place the spacers. Has nothing to do with the oven itself. Engineers and designers. All in all, it wasn't that big of a deal. All Correctable. Now it's sitting pretty and works great. No complaints with the oven. July 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Resorts oven ever I cannot believe anyone using this oven will give it any stars. It is by far the worst appliance I ever bought. I love cooking and have used many ovens in my life, this is by far the worst one. To start with, there are so many design mistakes that make using the oven confusing and complicated. Here are only a few: (a) Two of the rings are too large for a small or medium pot, but too small for large pots. (b) The largest ring is in the front with the smallest behind it. If you have a large pot on, you cannot reach or see the small ring behind it, making it difficult to use. (c) The rings are too close to each other, making it difficult to use multiple rings. (d) The knobs and electronics used to be in the front, now they are in an angle. They cut a quarter of the top surface for this, pushing the rings to the back, which is ok if you are a tall person, but for most women it is too uncomfortable to reach the back rings. (E) It also takes away from the surface, which is now less useful. (f) It also means that with is design, you cannot see the clock unless you are next to the oven, so be prepared to buy a clock for your kitchen. (g) The knobs are large and their location on the slant means that they stick out above the surface. When taking a dish out of the oven you cannot slide it easily onto the surface, but have to lift it higher above the knobs. (H) I could go on.... To top it all, the rings take forever to heat up. Literally 10-15 min to bring a small pot to the boil. once heated, any settings except for the lowest will burn the dish. In the few months with this oven, I burned more dishes than in my entire life before. The glass top seems to get spots and discoloration just from the heat. After a few uses it already looked worst than my old oven did after ten years. This oven was a replacement for the same model that I had for many years. I thought I am getting the same oven, but unfortunately, only the color and model numbers are the same. This is a new design and is nowhere near the quality of the old design with same model number. If you can, avoid this oven. May 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome investment all the features are great and work great! I only gave 4 stars on Quality because the pull out drawer is rather flimsy/cheap compared to how nice the rest of the stove is built. that is the only thing that needs to be improved. I would still buy it again with the drawer like it is. February 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Electric Range for sure! This was a slide-in stove to replace a 12-yr old that had died. Home Depot salesman was a BIG help, and the stove was delivered a few minutes AHEAD of schedule, which pleased us because we were pushed for time. A great and easy shopping experience, stove worked great, and my wife is very satisfied. Great looking and easy to use. February 25, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Oh, me! I bought this glass top range because this was the only slide-in I could find in the bisque color and no coil top was to be found. I am gradually learning the sad difference between the coil and glass top and am accepting it. This range is obviously working as it should but is not nearly so user friendly as the coil top. The oven light burns out every time it is replaced and your engineers blame it on the bulbs. LOL This is definitely the fault of the range and needs correction ASAP. I will not replace another bulb to be burned out in a few days use. February 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stove! The stove fit perfectly into the new granite countertops. Stove works well and looks great. Kitchen looks great with this new Stainless Steel Range. December 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product We have used the range and cooktop twice thus far. We love it! Controls are in front, where they belong. Also, the interior light is up front and easy to reach. The bisque color matches our new refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. February 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good when you get it but rusts within 2 years. My last GE oven lasted 15 years, but my new one only lasted 2. GE has gone down the tubes. The sides are covered with rust and it looks horrible. GE customer service response "I must have wiped it clean to many times and wiped through the paint which made it rust". They will sell me new sides. Lovely response. Thanks but no thanks. GE products used to be excellent, but now, they sell junk that wont last more than 2 years. I'm so disappointed with their product that I am actually using my valuable Saturday morning off work to go online and write this review. October 10, 2015
