Limestone, technically called calcium carbonate, is caused by a reaction between the calcium in hard water and the sodium carbonate in detergent. Limestone, technically called calcium carbonate, is caused by a reaction between the calcium in hard water and the sodium carbonate in detergent. To reduce a limestone build-up in your washer, we recommend using liquid detergent and install a water softener. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us! Read Less

Hi pickymomma51- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Front Load Washers! The washer does not feature Deep Fill option. This is a feature offered on select Top Load Washers. This washer features Load-Sensing Adaptive Fill. This allows the washer to determine the optimum water required to wash the items in the basket. Since frontload washers do not require the tub to fill with water like topload washers, significantly less water is required to thoroughly wash and rinse each load. Except for certain cycles like Handwash and Basket Clean that use more water, you will not see a visible water line on the door glass. Thanks for checking with us! Read Less

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 702 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not Worth the Price I was replacing a high quality laundry GE Profile pair. I have always had GEs and have had good luck with their products. I bought this one online as Home Depot doesn't carry anything in the store. It isn't half the machine I had and the features are minimal at best. I do love the color and mine is quiet. It cleans just fine and the matching dryer does the same. This was the best Home Depot has in the GE line. It's a fine set, just extremely overpriced for the minimal features. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst washer I ever bought Since day one it squeaked. GE said they all squeak. It leaks, clothes smell bad, the drum bangs, my husband called the store manager tonight. Our warranty expired one month ago. We bought all new GE kitchen appliances from HD plus the washer and dryer. Not one problem with any thing except this washer. The manager said he would make it right so we shall see. Do not buy this washer! May 11, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jet engine noise level Washer is phenomenally loud. Repair person said that is the GE design, noisy with NO SOUND ENGINEERING. Hence a fair comparison is with a GE jet engine. Not for home use. January 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Seriously the worst wash machine I have ever owned!!! BUYER BEWARE!! I purchased the brand new GE Just The Right Height wash machine model # GFWR4805FMC & the matching dryer. As soon as I got the wash machine I began having serious issues with it. The wash machine is ALWAYS out of balance when it spins & is EXTREMELY loud. When I say it's loud I mean it's beyond loud, you can hear it outside the house! It doesn't matter if there's 1 item or 10 items in the wash machine or what spin speed it's on. Because it's always out of balance it stops over & over when it's spinning to try & balance itself which causes it to add more time over & over to the cycle. It will run for over an hour just in the spin part of the cycle trying to reset itself. Then it quit spinning when it was only 6 months old. GE sent someone out to repair it since it was under the factory warranty. They fixed it where it would spin again but they never fixed the issue causing it to be so terribly loud or to keep trying to reset & balance itself which causes it to add more & more time to the cycle. This thing is in no way energy efficient when it keeps resetting over & over for over a hour! The seal around the door leaks & so there's soap & water that run down the front of the machine. The soap, fabric softener & bleach dispenser drawer is always full of water & it doesn't empty when you run the wash machine so it overfills & leaks inside the back of the machine where you don't know it's leaking until it's too late. Clothes started to smell foul even with basket cleaning being ran with bleach & the cleaner packet & door left open. Then it started damaging clothing. Now it's 1 year old & just out of warranty & needs $1080.00 in repairs & GE said they won't do anything even though the problems started while it was under warranty & was never fixed. GE is terrible to deal with!! October 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent washer, non working pedestals the washer is very easy to use, plus has lots of extra features. Super quiet, Only disappointment was the pedestal do not open. The main reason i bought them was for the built in pedestals. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Performs Beyond anticipation. Fantastic operational features. The product functions great! August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it!!! I have used many washers in the past and this one far surpasses all of them in every aspect! It cleans quickly and quietly, something my previous front-loader didn't do. I even cloth diaper and it gets everything super clean, with minimal detergent. The sanitize setting is my favorite for cleaning super yucky stuff. The stain buttons work great too. I no longer scrub spaghetti sauce or anything. I throw it in and hit the button. Somehow, it works! March 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bearings failed in 2 years Purchased product in August of 2013. It started making noises during the spin cycle and had a repairman out to look at it. Confirmed it was the bearings and that it would be a $500 fix. Not Happy!!!! June 17, 2016
