Old Magic Chef smoked and made house so hot I only cooked in winter time. Gave in and bought this range and so glad I did. Does not heat up house at all. It is very attractive, so much that I refaced cabinets and put in new tile to make the entire kitchen over. Temp control is right on the money. Love the glass door and oven light. Threw the old wind up timer away. I am now up to date on modern conveniences. You will not regret buying the stove. HD installed it and carried away the old one.
Installation was done in about 40 mins. Amazing installers.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by BUG001 Great Oven -- Buy it and Enjoy it !
I bought this oven on Black Friday on sale. I knew my wife would be cooking on Christmas and New years. This oven is GREAT. Its big inside you can fit a roast and the sides all at once. It cooks accurately, based on the time it suppose to cook a roast and the final temperature. Its packed full of useful features, its stylish and easy to clean. The different size burners are a plus , especially if your in a rush the larger burner cooks quick. Believe it or not , my gas bill hasn't been any higher either.
One minor thing to take into consideration -- look where the gas connector is in the back. during installation you may need a longer gas supply hose.
If your considering this oven -- its a great oven for the price.

Redoing a small condo kitchen in bits & pieces. First two purchases were a new fridge and this new stove. I'm VERY happy with it ... clean design, nice, simple lines. I particularly like the fact that the burner grates are made of steel; they aren't going to chip like the painted grates I've had in the past. Also, the oven has a large window which is nice for both practical and cosmetic purposes. Preheats quickly and gives you an audio beep when the desired temp is reached. Great product at a great price.

Love the large oven window , especially because of the white mesh glass inlay that gives a clean white look to the window when the oven light is off (some other ovens have a dark glass look).
The top burners are steady and controllable down to the lowest low flame. Top is very easy to clean. Each entire sealed burner unit lifts off for easy wiping of the porcelain top. The grates are a clean-looking dark gray, are smooth, and don't show burnt on food spotting. Same for the burner top disks.
The vent at the top back of the oven does send heat out toward your face, if you are standing right in front of the range while oven is on. Nice in the winter! Otherwise, stand back a few inches.
This is a good, simple oven without silly bells and whistles. No oven alarms, no auto turnoff, no stupid "self-cleaning" functions and door locks. The fewer electronic circuits, the better chance there is that an electronic ignition will last. My previous Amana/Whirlpool Direct Spark Ignition stopped functioning after about 1 year - exactly when the warranty expired. I managed to trick and diddle with it to get the oven to light for about another year and a half, then I had to replace it. Hoping this GE lasts much longer!
The big-BTU burner is on the right front, which works for me better than having it on the left front. Small-BTU burner on right rear. Two normal-BTU burners are on the left side.
The broiler is not really useful, so I store a few cast-iron pot lids under the broiler tray. Broilers down on the far bottom of a range are never useful - who really uses them?

I have not used oven yet so I cannot rate it. I do want to.buy some cookie sheets to line with foil to avoid drips but I have read that the non stick oven liners block the vents . So maybe after the summer I will look for one that I can trim. I also have concerns about using foil on the broiler rack. Does someone have an answer?
I am used to a 36" range with space for storage and food prep. The 6"s is really missed and I have Ben using a 14"X9 cutting board to fill the gap and have to.have a am a custom cabinet made to avoid things dropping to th floor. Otherwise this is a big improvement over my 40 year-old range that was still working .I hope this lasts one half as long although because of the computer I highly doubt it. Progress is not always a positive thing.
