You'll need to convert the outlet to 4 prong as well. That might require rewiring. While I'm comfortable with simple outlet rewiring, if you're not an expert or a pro I would have an electrician do the rewiring. I had him out in the new wire and he placed the new outlet and I just changed to range prongs.

Hello Dan, Thanks for your very good installation question. Usually the new ranges can be installed with either 3 or 4 prong cords. Please check with your local electrical codes to make sure. Thanks for buying GE! Sheree with GE

Answer:
Hi Gartan-this is Sue from GE Appliances. A UL Listed 40 Amp 4-Wire Cord or 3-Wire Cord may be used with electric ranges. Check with your local utilities for electrical codes which apply in your area. See the installation instructions included with the range for details. Thanks for checking with us!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Buying in the USA Standard four-prong plug for electric range. It helped to have a picture of the outlet in my home on my phone, and it was easy to order online. However, to buy the plug separate from the oven is the way in the USA. It's like buying a car, but you have to buy the windshield separately! May 31, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect cord Was in need of a new 4-prong range cord to replace the existing 3-prong cord that came with our range that we bought at a garage sale. Ordered online, picked it up in the store about an hour later, and everything worked perfectly. Easy to install and good quality. Didn't come with any instructions, but you shouldn't need them anyway. January 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase This item was a replacement for my stove's previous part that was a safety issue that corrected the safety hazard that I was experiencing. Installation was simple and safe now I can sleep at night without thinking about the worst. November 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cooking Range new plug cord We met a very nice and knowledgable lady as we came into this location and she took us directly to the area where this item is located. She also told us the proper way to install the plug, which was helpful because my son had never replaced a cord before. The overall experience is what keeps us coming back to Home Depot. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing item Item was easy to use, cosmetically pleasing and surprisingly flexible. I wish I had more appliances so i could buy more of these and install in my home and business. Everyone was happy with this, especially how it allowed our oven to deliver heat for good home cooked meals (deliciuos ones I might add)! Thank you Home Depot July 28, 2015
