The following can be used as a general water softener sizing guide: Multiply the average gallons of water used per person per day by the number of people in your household and then multiple this answer by your water hardness in GPG (this gives the hardness that needs to be removed daily). Then multiple the hardness that needs to be removed daily by the number of people in the household to get the approximate size of the softener needed. Thanks for checking with us! Read Less

I need to decide whether I should buy this GE model or the Morton 45,000. On the Menard's website it says the Morton model was made in the USA. I want to buy the one that was made in the USA. Next time when I am in the local home depot store I will also check it out.

Thank you Lisa. If it is made in the USA, that's great and GE should proudly print that on the box. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No more hard water spots! We had old galvanized pipes replaced with new PEX pipe and at the same time had the GE water softener installed. Our water comes from a well, therefore the water was hard and left hard water residue on glass, sinks etc. This water softener works great! Wish I had done this a long time ago. I saw a difference immediately. Hard water spotting is gone and water feels great! July 9, 2015
