I've only had my range for a month and a half but I am very satisfied with it. The controls work well, the oven is large and the cooktop is very efficient. I haven't tried the self-cleaning oven feature yet. The stove is nice looking and wipes clean easily. I like the sealed burners. The people who complained about the grates being unbalanced on the burners did not have them placed correctly. I had that problem at first but when I turned the grates so that the straight parts met in the middle, they were perfectly steady. Also, when I had a question about the stove, I was able to speak directly to a GE customer service person.

I returned this item already once because it was not working properly. After exchanging it, it does not work again. This time I have GE coming to my residence to work on it. Very frustrating.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NickJames Turns your whole kitchen into an oven
This was our first gas range. I didn't research this purchase much at all, but I wish I had. I just looked at the rating on here and that was it. The stove top performance is definitely much better compared to our previous electric range, but that was to be expected. My wife had been concerned about ease of cleaning compared to the glass top electric range but actually this gas range is very easy to keep clean. But the problem is that the oven is gas powered too and the hot exhaust gas from the oven burner dumps into the kitchen. It's the middle of summer here right now and we've currently got a 10 k btu window AC unit about ten feet from the range but with the oven on, the temperature in our house soars. Basically it makes baking during the summer impossible.

Bought this oven a year ago and it has been exactly what we had hoped. We don't use the simmer burner as much as I thought we might, but the large burner comes in real handy. I wish the light didn't come on every time the door is opened. Even though there is a light switch, the light comes on when the door is open. We usually leave the door open when we are done baking, so the light is on a lot.
Was a little worried that the vent is right behind the door handle, but it hasn't been a problem. The oven heats fast.

Our new GE gas range seems to have been a good purchase ,although it's been a recent buy. Easy to operate with simple controls which I hope means less chances of problems. The clock could be illuminated better.

I replaced a 10 year old GE 5 cu. ft. gas range, and the new one doesn't even come close to it for range top cooking. The simmer burner is way too high and situated directly behind the speed burner. Seems it should be in front, as simmering generally requires stirring. Rather hard to do when you have something going on the speed burner at the same time and have to reach over it to tend to the simmer pot. Also, it is not as fast as the older model, perhaps because the grates are so high. Don't like it and am seriously thinking of having the old one repaired, so I can enjoy cooking again. All the ranges I looked at had the same burner placement. Not happy.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Samantha Works good so far but it definitely has it's flaws!!!
I ordered this oven on Black Friday. After I had the stove installed I realized the paint on the back panel and on the range top was bubbled. There was also a dent on the side panel. I did not return it, simply because I was without a stove for over a week as it was. From the first time I used the oven and still now, it puts off a foul smell and even sets off my Carbon Monoxide detector, broiler included! I called the person who installed this for me( Home depot would not, due to it needing to be converted from natural gas to propane) and he said "that's how these new stoves are". The smell has gotten better. I was advised to run the self-cleaning cycle WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN. Being that I live in North-Eastern PA and it's January...I'm holding off until spring!
