Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use the oven if the electricity goes out?

I saw from a previously asked question that the burners on this gas stove can be lit manually in case of a power outage. Can the oven be used when we lose electricity?
Asked by: Zeld
Not the oven. You can use the stove though, just have to use a lighter to ignite the burners.

Does this range operate on LP gas too? If so would I need a conversion kit?

Asked by: TMRfc
This GE product came with one, which was hugely helpful. Our propane company did the conversion - it took him about 45 minutes. He did indicate it was an easy product to work with.

5.0 cu. ft. Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 563.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cooks well, cleans terribly Positives: Love the speed and the simmer burners on the stove; love the even baking in the oven. Negatives: stove top grate and burner caps are seriously impossible to clean; "self-cleaning AquaLift" oven does not do anything beyond warming water that you put into the oven to make scrubbing easier. If you want a range that works well but that gets and stays dirty from day one, this is your best bet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice stove So far this stove is working fine. I like the extra middle burner. The oven bakes even and the bottom drawer holds quite a bit and is nice for the extra storage. The grates are easily removed to clean the cook top. Overall not a bad stove.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great appearance While we had a delay in moving in after water damage and appliance replacement, the unit looks great. The only concern is what appears to be a lack of flame intensity and a little difficulty igniting the stove top burners

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great! I have had this range for a couple months bow and love it! I really like having the broiler in the oven like an electric range giving us the storage drawer as well. Best range ive ever used

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Design flaw with power burner Sorry we purchased it. The power burner is essentially useless. The burner barely has a flame about half the way around it and only has a high flame on about a third when set to power boil. However, the photo of the power burner on GE website for this same model shows an even high flame. Our plumber installed it and thought it was defective so we called GE and they sent a repairman. Repair tech agreed it was a problem but told us it was designed that way and could not be fixed and furthermore said that he has had multiple calls for this issue. Complaint to GE went nowhere. Will try to return this stove since we can't live with it that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great gas stove! We are thoroughly enjoying this range. Having five burners with each cooking at a different level is a great feature. The simmer burner has quickly become our favorite. The oven is large enough for the roaster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy stove After looking at MANY gas stoves I settled on this GE product and I am so glad I did. It is a very sturdy looking product compared to some of the other stoves I've seen. Oddly enough the knobs are one of the best features as they are not plastic silver but a solid brushed piece of construction. Again after looking at so many stoves and seeing their cheap knobs I found this product to be very solid looking. The top is also very solid looking and the grates, though heavy, only add to the overall solid construction of the stove. I have cooked on the top only as it is summer but I cannot wait to do some serious baking and roasting in the oven! I purchased this on sale and saved quite a bit which only added to my positive experience!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overall a poor experience I had this oven installed on April 30, 2014, on May 6, 2014, the glass inside the door shattered while baking. Called GE customer service and they want to send a technician to repair. Unfortunately, I work during the day, so I can't be there between 8 and 5 for the 4 hour windows that are required, unless I take time off of work, which is not an option right now. They offered the Saturday after next, with a time window of 8am to 5pm. That is a 9 hour window on a Saturday over a week away for a stove that is a week old. I would expect a more proactive approach to them getting this resolved. I'm still able to return this, which is what I am going to end up having to do.
