Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hvpia239 So happy with this washer!
I purchased this new washer after my 12 year old GE died. The transmission bit the dust and sprayed transmission oil all over a load of towels. I researched for 4 hours and kept coming back to this washer. I knew that I wanted a HE washer, top loader, no agitator, stainless steel drum, energy efficient, and large enough to wash my king size comforter. I also wanted the least amount of buttons and things to break on the control panel as possible. This washer fit the bill and then some. I had to order it because they didn't have it in the store. However, with free haul away of my old washer, free delivery and set up of my new washer I was ok with it. Plus, they could deliver the following day. The delivery guys were great. Answered all my questions and even showed me how to use my new appliances without me asking.
I have had this washer (I also went ahead and replaced my dryer with the match to the washer...just do it! You'll be happy you did!) for just over 3 weeks now. I have used every cycle on it and have been nothing but happy. My clothes come out clean and due to the high spin cycle everything dries in less time. Now 6 loads of laundry is 3 loads of laundry. I'm so happy! Oh and the towels that smelled like transmission oil from the old washer that I thought for sure were ruined...I washed them in my new washer and they came out smelling perfectly clean. Not one trace of oil residue or smell.
Read the instruction manual cover to cover. Read how to load this washer as it not the same as loading a washer with an agitator. Read the directions about how much detergent to use, fabric softener, etc. It doesn't wash the same as your "old" washer did and you'll be glad it doesn't. Every load comes out clean smelling and looking.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by securehope Terrible. Useless. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
This is the most terrible washing machine I have ever used. BEWARE! STAY AWAY from any top-loading washing machine that does not have a center agitator. IT DOES NOT GET YOUR CLOTHES CLEAN. Instead, it inspires feelings of hatred, frustration, anger, loathing, and revulsion because it simply does not do the main and only thing that it is made for (washing clothes).
This machine has a silver sensor in the center of the bottom of the machine, and you have to arrange your clothes around the sensor and make sure you do not cover up the sensor. Fine, no problem, I can do that. In fact, I am VERY purposeful about knowing the instructions in detail for how to appropriately use the washer. The user's manual says, "Load dry items loosely in the washer basket. For best results, load items evenly and loosely around the outside of the basket." However, no matter how exactly you make sure that you arrange the clothes perfectly and use the precise amount of the correct High Efficiency soap, and no matter which cycle you use, this washer WILL NOT produce clean clothes.
At the end of EVERY cycle over the past 5-6 months, I consistently experience all of these problems:
• Clothes are not clean
• Odor is not removed
• Certain portions of various articles of clothing never even got wet
• 1-2 items per load have large, slimy sections where they are still coated with soap (even doing an extra rinse)
Another negative is that the washer is HUGE and looks like it has a giant capacity, but you cannot put many clothes in it because once you arrange them to a certain height, they start to fall down into the middle and cover the sensor.
I have used a very wide range of washing machines over the years - top loading, front loading, laundromats, etc. In general, despite variations in quality and cycle options, I have had no reason to complain about any of them. This washer, on the other hand, is so frustratingly, ridiculously USELESS that even though I have a washer in the house, I have to go to a laundromat if I am going to get my clothes clean.
The accompanying photo shows the sleeve of my coat after the completion of the "Bulky Items" cycle. I immediately re-washed it on the "Heavy Soil" cycle and it came out just as dirty, at which point I gave up and put it in the dryer, sealing in its fate, and went to post this review.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Angie Ditch the front loader and buy this one!
My husband, who researches EVERYTHING before buying, did just so before purchasing this washer. I'm SO happy he talked me out of a front loader - which we had previously and made our clothes smell so bad - and into this one This washer is HUGE - I can wash so much at one time; including my king size comforter. The clothes are practically dry when you remove them from the washer which results in less dry time. It's so nice to finally have fresh smelling clothes. It has plenty of cycles and easy to use. The cute little noises it makes are just an added bonus. So many products now-a-days are not made to last very long, so I hope I can still give the same review on this ten years from now.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by buywarranty get the extended warranty!
We owned this washer for 14 months. Troublle soon after purchase. The vibration dampers were replaced, then again as the washer danced around. Several techs mentioned recalls and problems with this model. Thank goodness we purchased the extended warranty from HD. They gave a total refund which we used to buy an LG washer.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by nonwasher Washer doesn't work
Had this machine delivered today, and all it has managed to do successfully is make my clothes soaking wet. It can't get past the "load sense" function, it pauses and has to be restarted several times, it has yet to get to the actual wash cycle, and then when you select drain and spin to try to start the process over, it spins for maybe 2 minutes then stops. Clothes are not washed and you can't even place them in the dryer since they are still soaking wet from the spin cycle not functioning correctly. Contacted GE support and someone will be out in 4 days to check it - in the meantime I guess I can hand wash all my clothes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RobbieC Save yourself money and time, buy this GE washer!
I have been a GE brand loyal customer for over 20 years. I recently had to replace our home washer after a 10+ year life and thousands of loads of laundry. I am so impressed with the new technology and energy efficient focus of this GE product and others. Although there are many features on this washer, I have found this model simple to use, as have my teen- and tween- aged sons. We are able to take care of all our laundry needs, from heavily-soiled football uniforms, large comforters and bulky items, to delicates and rinse-only items. One of our favorite options is the high speed spin cycle. It has reduced drying time significantly! We highly recommend this 'Made in America' product!
