My purchase of the 5.0 CU FT. High- Efficiency Top Loader washer in white, Energy Star, does not have a center agitator. However, the new washer is a mixed bag, when it works my wife and daughter claims it washes well for a family of 7. Home Depot, Beaumont, TX has been very supportive and demanded a new washer when the first one did not operate properly after it was delivered. The second one operated well for about 8 months then started having problems. The last of 5 technicians that have worked on the washer found the problem, a screw on the back panel had penetrated a control wire. All work has been done under the manufacture's warranty and it was extended for 6 months. The Home Depot's protection plan was used once and I will be sending a complaint letter to Home Depot regarding the lack of service. Read Less

Thank you for asking, I didn't. There is NO agitator. It sort of sloshes back and forth. You will only be able to load 1/4 to 1/3 the clothes you are used to loading. Because they now have sensors somewhere inside, it will not dispense enough water to cover the clothes. It does spin very well.
I have had to do some loads 2-3 times more because they didn't come clean and also have come out of the washer

I have had to do some loads 2-3 times more because they didn't come clean and also have come out of the washer with completely dry areas in the folds.
The machine is being replaced by a Speed Queen.

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This washer does not have an agitator, it has an infuser which is not as tall as an agitator. If you wish to have a tall agitator, you might want to look at Model #GTWN5650FWS. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Yes, always use HE detergent. Too 'sudsy' of a detergent will result in clogged lines and foam-covered clothes.

Hello from GE,
Use of High Efficiency detergent is best but you may use regular detergent. Be sure to use very small amounts, particularly if you have soft water. Over-use of detergent can cause over-sudsing and leaks. Thank you for checking.

Yes , use HE detergent. But you don't use as much as you would a normal washer. Too much soap is not good for the clothes.

Hi EMK1984, GE only recommends using High Efficiency detergent with this model. The detergent is highly concentrated, you will use less and and is better for the operation of the machine.

Put the HE detergent in the bottom of the drum before you add the clothes. If using liquid, you can rub a small amount on a specific hard to clean stain and throw that in the washer.

You measure it and pour it out into the bottom of the inside of the washer before adding the clothes. I usually pour my out in a circle around the bottom. There is no separate dispenser for the liquid detergent.

Hi-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your purchase! Add the liquid laundry detergent to the washer basket before adding the items so that the detergent can work effectively. See pages 4, 7 and 8 of the owner's manual for complete instructions at the following link:

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you.
These two washers are basically the same model. The GTWN7450HWW replaced the GTWN7450DWW so the GTWN7450HWW is the newer of the two models. If there are any differences between the two models, they would be very minor and unnoticeable.
I hope this helps! Thank you for checking with us!

5.0 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Top Load Washer in White, ENERGY STAR is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 474.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible!! This washer does not clean! Doesn't add enough water to get clothes clean... See pic below. This is 4 pair of jeans and 1 pair of khakis. To get the clothes "wet" I have to soak each cycle! What it saves on our water bill, it cost us a ton in electricity... We have to add 30 minutes to each cycle, in hopes it may get clothes clean. Clothes come out dirty...I wouldn't even resale or even give it to anyone. U CANNOT adjust water levels. So disappointed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worse washer of all time! I bought this washer 2years ago the problems started immediately. We have to reset the washer about every other week and it is not 2 minutes, more like 2 days. We have had technicians out with their computers and the re-set but only lasts for a short time. Even though we have a warranty we are in search of A new "NON-GE" washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ditch the front loader and buy this one! My husband, who researches EVERYTHING before buying, did just so before purchasing this washer. I'm SO happy he talked me out of a front loader - which we had previously and made our clothes smell so bad - and into this one This washer is HUGE - I can wash so much at one time; including my king size comforter. The clothes are practically dry when you remove them from the washer which results in less dry time. It's so nice to finally have fresh smelling clothes. It has plenty of cycles and easy to use. The cute little noises it makes are just an added bonus. So many products now-a-days are not made to last very long, so I hope I can still give the same review on this ten years from now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read Reviews I loved the features that this machine has, although I found out there was more to it. THIS MACHINE DOES NOT GET CLOTHES CLEANED (no matter what the cycle) DOES NOT GET RID OF ODERS, DOES NOT GET THE H.E. SOAP OFF OR OUT, and DOES GET THE CLOTHES WET. 3RD repair within a month! What has happened with spending more money and not getting a load (5) pairs of jeans cleaned? I have to spray with spray and wash, soak and wash twice with a 2nd rinse. High efficiency is not to be found on this washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy with this washer! I purchased this new washer after my 12 year old GE died. The transmission bit the dust and sprayed transmission oil all over a load of towels. I researched for 4 hours and kept coming back to this washer. I knew that I wanted a HE washer, top loader, no agitator, stainless steel drum, energy efficient, and large enough to wash my king size comforter. I also wanted the least amount of buttons and things to break on the control panel as possible. This washer fit the bill and then some. I had to order it because they didn't have it in the store. However, with free haul away of my old washer, free delivery and set up of my new washer I was ok with it. Plus, they could deliver the following day. The delivery guys were great. Answered all my questions and even showed me how to use my new appliances without me asking. I have had this washer (I also went ahead and replaced my dryer with the match to the washer...just do it! You'll be happy you did!) for just over 3 weeks now. I have used every cycle on it and have been nothing but happy. My clothes come out clean and due to the high spin cycle everything dries in less time. Now 6 loads of laundry is 3 loads of laundry. I'm so happy! Oh and the towels that smelled like transmission oil from the old washer that I thought for sure were ruined...I washed them in my new washer and they came out smelling perfectly clean. Not one trace of oil residue or smell. Read the instruction manual cover to cover. Read how to load this washer as it not the same as loading a washer with an agitator. Read the directions about how much detergent to use, fabric softener, etc. It doesn't wash the same as your "old" washer did and you'll be glad it doesn't. Every load comes out clean smelling and looking.
