This washer is so beautiful. You will want to stand over it and watch through the glass lid as the tub fills with splashes of water enhanced beautifully by the LED lighting. It also makes politely pleasant noises to alert you about various things. Get the equally beautiful matching dryer and watch them talk to each other about the current load selection! Prefill the detergent and softener and washing is a breeze--when the darn thing actually works.
We have had ours for three months, and then it started pausing in the middle of any and all cycles. It would take two days to get through a single load. First technician dispatched informed me that I was loading it wrong, but as soon as he left the same thing happened, even though I carefully arranged the clothes like a mother robin would arrange her nest.
I tried to figure this out on my own, and in the process discovered that installers switched hot and cold inputs, resulting in super wrinkly clothing and a blazing hot laundry room. Sadly, switching the lines out did not help the pausing problem (technician did not notice the mistake, nor did the dryer installer, who had to attach a hose to dryer for steam feature), but since I have fixed the hoses, I no longer have to run a fan in laundry room. Or didn't before the washer completely stopped working.
A week ago we could still get a full load run fifty percent of the time, but now it is completely dead. Yes, it still looks pretty, except for the now dirty water stuck in it, but dead. Second technician dispatched to look at issue reported that a batch of washers left factory with bad boards. First board they shipped apparently did not include all the right components, so could not be installed. So now we are waiting for another board, and another technician.
The thing to note about this is that it takes a MINIMUM of a week to get a technician to your house to diagnose the issue (if he is willing to admit that it is a problem with the washer, and not with your washing technique). If a part is needed, that will be at least another 4 days before it gets there and then someone comes out to install it. Tomorrow will theoretically mark our 5th technician visit, so if you do the math, you can see we have not been fully functional for some time. Thankfully, it is just my GE employee husband (which is why I bought this brand) and I doing laundry, but still, four weeks without a washer is WAY TOO LONG when you have spent this much money.
I have also noticed that once you tell people that you have a fancy HE washer, you start to hear horror stories. The tech telling me that I am loading it wrong did that for a reason. Apparently even though there are cycles on this thing for bulky items, it is highly recommended that you NOT use them or you are on the fast track to a drum rebuild. I have also been told this washer and others like it will last a MAXIMUM of five years. So do yourself a favor: don't go by looks or the pretty sounds this washer makes. Save yourself time and money and buy an old school top loader with a conventional agitator. Three months from now you will thank me.

My first washing machine was delivered on June 17, 2014. It had a major scratch on the front of the machine. The second washing machine washed was delivered on June 23. The water level is not sufficient unless I use the "bulky items" setting. But this limits the spin speed to "high" so the clothes do not get as dry. For the last month there has been standing water in the "pretreat/liquid bleach" compartment. The washing machine is supposed to talk to the dryer and send information about what dryer cycles to use. Unfortunately there are no instructions in the manual how to do this.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0Â by 4Farmgirl Laundry does not get clean
I like all of the features on this washer, smart dispense for both detergent and softener, many temperature options. However the clothes do not get clean. We live on a country farm and the new wave technology can't handle the mud and barn dirt. My old front loader was unreliable but when it worked the clothes were very clean. I would like to be able to add an agitator in the middle. I suppose if I were to put in very small loads it would work better but what is the sense of having a 5 cu.ft. washer and only being able to wash 2 cu. ft. of laundry. Too many boys in my life for that to work.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0Â by RachelB Many features, but also issues
We bought this washer almost a year ago. We've had issues from the start though, mainly with detergent residue (especially on darker clothes). I've tried everything: less detergent, extra rinse, add softener, less clothes, turn steam feature on, nothing works. We have a technician coming in for advice now, cause I'm at the end of my rope here. Other than that I love it, it communicates with the dryer and it cleans the clothes. I just think it uses too little water - nice for the environment, but not effective for my clothes.

So many buttons! I love how many clothes I can fit in each load and how it auto senses how much water I need.
