Customer Questions & Answers

How do I turn on the oven. I am confused by the digital panel. Thank you

Asked by: Pattu
Hi Pattu-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! To bake, touch the Bake pad. Touch the + or - pads until the desired temperature is displayed then touch the Start pad. For reference, see page 13 of the Owner's Manual included with the range or online: Thanks for checking with us!

Does dirt build up between the glass panels?

Somehow drips got between the 2 glass panels of my range and you can't get to them to clean them. Now that I've been looking at new ones, I've read about this being an issue with other models too. I don't really get how stuff could get between the glass but once it does it looks terrible. Any comments on experience with this with this model? Thanks for your time!
Asked by: 3timesoccermom
Hi 3timesoccermom-this is Sue from GE Appliances. It's exciting to hear of your interest! When oven is in bake, broil or self-clean, the vapor/moisture formed goes through the door slots and between the window panes. The vapor carries with it grease from the foods and/or oven. When the vapor cools, the grease dries onto the glass and streaks appear. To prevent streaks from occurring, wipe out the excess grease from the oven before any type of long baking/roasting period or putting the range through a self-clean cycle (some models). Note: Streaking may appear more often on convection models because of the continuous air flow. Thanks for checking with us!

Stove Heats Intermittently

I've already purchased the range. When I turn a stove burner on, it comes on and off intermittently, the frequency of which is determined by the power setting I use. So if I'm simmering water, instead of a continuous heat, the burner will BLAST heat for a second, then wait 20 seconds, then BLAST heat again, and repeat this cycle. Is this how the range was built to work? If so, it's so bad that I'm getting another unit. It takes forever for food to heat up because it's not continuously being warmed, then when it's cooked, the bottom is burnt because the heat that's been applied to it, though intermittent, was the highest heat setting!
Asked by: guest890
Hi guest890-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase. We are happy to provide assistance. It is normal operation for radiant elements to cycle on and off (glow red and then go dark) during operation. When the radiant unit is turned on HIGH, the unit will cycle on approximately 75% of the time and off 25% of the time. On MEDIUM, the unit will cycle 50% on and 50% off. On LOW setting, the unit will cycle 25% on and 75% off. The type of cookware you use on a radiant cooktop can affect how it performs. We recommend using medium or heavy-weight aluminum and stainless steel cookware. Also, flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. We encourage you to contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 for any further assistance. Thanks for reaching out to us!

What does assembled height mean? Is this height of cooking element where it meets counter, or height of back of oven where controls are?

Asked by: benjamin
Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The assembled height is the approximate height to the top of the range, which in this case would be approximately 47". I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Customer Reviews

5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range in White is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 759.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken after 3 Months... I bought this 3 months ago and it is ALREADY MALFUNCTIONING. When the small dual burner is on high, the outer most portion of the large dual burner turns on too. The thermostats on the burners on not working properly. When the burners are on for more than a minute or two the burners stop cycling on and off and will not maintain the heat setting. To get the stove to work I have to turn the temperature up or down for a moment then back to the desired temperature in order to "reset" the temperature every few minutes while cooking. The burners struggle to boil water- even the so called "high power ones" and I have to constantly adjust the knob to maintain high heat. Now the oven is starting to act up. Twice the oven failed to maintain moderate 350 degree heat during baking. After about 30 minutes the heating element stopped cycling on and off-it stayed on! The oven was about 500 degree when I removed my burned dinner. Bottom line- The quality of this stove is abysmal. A brand new stove should NOT have "quirks" like constantly needing to adjust knobs in order to function. Two stars ONLY because it is capable of cooking (the stove it replaced died and was completely inoperable)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Range With Great Features I bought this same model about 2 years ago for my previous house and liked it very much, so when I bought a new place a few months ago, I again bought this range. The model of 2 years ago was very nice, but there have been some very nice improvements. The stove is very attractive and you cannot get better features for the price. The cooktop is not one uniform color and texture. On other models, pots and pans can easily slide of the burner area when stirring, etc. But the textures of the burners and the rest of the cooktop on this model prevent that from happening. Another very nice plus is that on all other smooth top ranges I've owned, the "Hot Cooktop" light is a small red light on the control panel that looks just like the "Burner On" lights and is often mistaken for a burner on. On this model, the "Hot Cooktop" light is much larger and is on the cooktop itself. Very large oven window and very large storage drawer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great deal, cleaning nightmare I bought this range because my other GE range the window got broke and it just want to go through the expense of getting a new window. At 549. regular price I thought that this would be a good range. First the right front side burner is offset and runs into the back burner. That same burner doesn't heat up as fast as the last range I had even though it is suppose to be a fast boil. Cleaning is a nightmare. I have to constantly clean it, food gets burned on and you cant get it off I use cerama brite on it all of the time and still there is residue left behind. At the price I paid I cant complain to much but at full price its not a good deal.
