Cleaning the light colored glass top of our new bisque oven is a daily nightmare. Any suggestions?

We recently replaced our last GE stove which we loved with this similar model. Unfortunately the dark glass top was no longer available for the bisque stove so we bought the model with the light glass top. I try to be a neat cook, but even the slightest food spill causes such a burned on mess that it takes a long time to clean the stove after each meal. We use the Cerama Bryte as recommended in the brochure but this wont work until the burned on food is scraped with a razor first. I cook a lot and daily clean up is just such a chore, but the stove looks terrible if I don't constantly clean it using this time consuming method. I wish you still made the black glass top for this model! Any other hints for easier clean up?

No problem ... Use a little baking soda and water with a sponge or cloth ... 99% of spills come right up. Save the cleaner for the other 1%!
Had one of these 10 years ago before a move. Anyone know where I can buy another ( want bisque with bisque top)?

Cleaning with the cleaning cream after each use of the cooktop will keep the cooktop looking new and easy to clean. Ceramic cooktop cleaning creams are the best. It is also recommend to use the razor scraper or a non-scratch scotch brite pad.
While the top does require maintenance, it is mush easier than cleaning the old style drip pans and trim rings.
I hope this helps! Read Less

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in the GE Electric Range model # JB705TTCC.
This range does not feature a cooktop lamp.
You will love the Convection option. The PreciseAir Convection system has accurate heat circulation which ensures evenly baked foods.
The Warming drawer with variable temperature control is a great feature also!
Happy Shopping!

It is wonderful when you are making things like waffles, pancakes or bacon and need to keep them warm while still baking more. I just put a oven proof pan in the drawer and pile my waffles in as I finish cooking them until I am ready to serve. When I have to open the drawer multiple times like this I do set the drawer on "high" since I am letting heat out more frequently. When you pull a bubbling casserole from the oven and place it directly in the warming drawer- and do not plan on opening it for a time- you will probably be able to use a lower temperature setting. The drawer measures roughly 22 inches wide, 15 inches deep, and 3.5 inches tall. It is not as big as the standard storage drawer of a traditional stove, but could easily hold 2 large casserole pans or 4 smaller square ones. I would not use it for the storage of clean pans since it might damage the finish and you won't utilize it as often for its intended purpose if it is filled with things. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stove! Haven't had the stove quite two weeks yet, but I'm so pleased with it so far. Been working on breaking it in, it works beautifully. Very pleased with the performance and ease of operation, love all the features ( I have not needed to use either of the self clean features yet). Glad to have purchased an "American made product"! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Appliance I have had this stove now for over a month and have cooked and baked so many things with it. The oven space and warming drawer are so nice and the convection oven bakes my dinners, breads and cookies perfectly. I don't have to run to the oven every few minutes to rotate things around any more. The cook top is so pretty with its bisque top and is actually easier to keep looking nice because I can see any spots I might have missed, unlike my old black glass top that always had a buildup on the burners that you couldn't see, but could feel. There are so many cooking options with the cook top and there are features to this unit that I never thought I would use, but have already used more times than I can count. The product is gorgeous in my kitchen (and I am not one to get excited about the look of an appliace-I just want it to work) and it is worth spending a bit more money, if you can, to get all of the extra features. It has all the bells and whistles but it still far less than most of the other stoves with these features. I aslo have to say that the Home Depot staff was very helpful and nice when I needed assistance buying my product off line. I went to the store and they walked me through the entire process of purchasing online since they did not have the model I wanted in stores. Very happy with my stove and experience. Thank you! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We like the new convection oven features. We remodeled our kitchen and replaced our worn out range with the GE convection range/oven purchased through Home Depot. We both wanted this when we moved in to our newly built home 20 years ago but were financially strapped @the time. I used Consumer Reports to research for the best oven for my preferences. So far, we haven't been disappointed. I recommend reading the manual to set the oven up for personal preferences when using the convection. I've used both the bake and convection methods; I prefer the convection. The top takes a little more attention for cleaning and I lost the bottom for storage of pans to a warming drawer. However, with the remodel I now have space for pots & pans. Again, we're very pleased so far with the new GE Convection oven. June 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FANTASTIC I cant say enough how thrilled I am with the new range. Needing Bisque I was a bit shocked to see the model was being phased out so I bit the bullet and purchased it to replace my perfectly good NON Convection GE Profile range. The larger 12"burner is perfect and the convection oven works wonderfully. Being a bit of a foodie who photographs my food to send to all my friends I cant rate this range high enough. I know I'm going to have to clean the bisque top more often than the dark top of my old model but its something to be expected. THANKS GE!!!! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GE needs to improve quality inspections Overall I like the options and features of this stove, the white top is a bit of a pain to keep clean but if you clean it right after it cools down it cleans up well. Disappointed in the fact that the front of the stove was scratched up, even had scratches inside the oven doors. We specially ordered the stove to be delivered before Christmas so we could use it to cook Christmas dinner. Home Depot was very understanding when we returned it and canceled the order so we could buy the same unit from another company. February 21, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Stove I was so worried about the white cooktop and whether I could keep it clean but there are no worries. I use BarKeepers Friend and it cleans the top sparkling clean with no scratches. I had a black ceramic top and it was tough keeping it clean, every little mark showed on the black. Like the difference between a white and a black car, the white top shows no imperfections. There were no reviews anywhere on this stove but I am so glad I decided to go for it anyway. My kitchen is pure white now and I love it. I know stainless is the thing right now but the white is classic and never goes out of style. If you're thinking about this stove, buy it with confidence. I haven't really used the convection for baking yet but the interior is nice with the hidden bake element. Really nice range. July 1, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Daily cooktop cleaning required. I can find no pot or pan that does not leave a mark on the stovetop. I buffed and sanded our old stuff to a high sheen and then we bought $150 of new Stainless pans. Everything leaves a mark, so unless you plan on scrubbing the stovetop every evening, take a pass on a white/beige cooktop. Tired of this already and it has not been a month yet. My wife is still trying to learn where to set the dials to cook. She cannot find any setting that "simmers". Even the "melt" setting boils water. Hopefully she can resolve this problem. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] July 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by There's a lot to like in this model I chose this model (JB705TTCC) for its convection feature, and it seems to be unique in having a bisque-colored smoothtop, rather than black, which I also like a lot. The top surface is easy to keep clean with the cleaning solution and pad provided, plus this speckled bisque surface shows no fingerprints, unlike other mirror-like surfaces on black smoothtops. The controls are sophisticated (e.g., convection for one rack or multiple racks, auto convection temp conversion or not); yet they are not difficult to master. There are multiple size heat areas on the range top for a variety of size of cooking vessels and purposes. There is a lower warming drawer with a heating coil underneath (which I've not used) that is basically a storage drawer when not being used for warming. I would not choose this feature, but it came with the model when I chose to get this range with convection. There are 3 very heavy-duty, adjustable racks to arrange at 6 different levels. The 5.3 cu. ft. capacity of this oven is greater than most, I would say. I gave the oven and range its full workout starting the week before Thanksgiving with multiple dishes and a 21-pound turkey to roast by convection. I am very happy with all that this appliance has to offer and have been pleased with the results, other than I haven't figured out how to keep my oatmeal from boiling over (need to have confidence in the lower heat settings, probably). Even those messy boilovers clean up amazingly well. I have not tried the steam or self clean feature of the oven yet. I also appreciate the delay start and timed bake feature for the oven. The broiler has a high and low setting that is handy. Hopefully this appliance will serve well for many years. I'll update later if there's anything unusual to report. December 11, 2011
