Answer:
Yes, but I would not advise it. They can damage the top and they do not conduct the heat as well on this kind of top. I have always used iron skillets but I am not going to tempt fate with this top.

Answer:
Hello Texas - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you.
Cast iron is generally not recommended for use on glass cooktops, unless it is designed specifically for glass cooktops. Case iron has poor conductivity and is slow to absorb heat. It can also scratch the cooktop surface.
I hope this helps! Thank you for contacting GE!

Answer:
Yes, there is a toggle switch to turn it on. I had never used one before, but tried it with my roasted potatoes. It cut about 20 minutes off the cooking time and the potatoes came out crispy yet soft inside. I made a pan of frozen biscuits that came out brown and high after only 20 minutes. Happy family!

Hi Alangski-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for considering our GE 30" Free-Standing Electric Convection Range JB690DFBB.
This model features both convection and conventional baking. If you would like to bake with the convection fan, choose the Convection Bake setting. If you do not want the convection fan on while baking, choose the Bake setting.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love!!! I had my old stove for 20+ years. Imagine my delight with a 21st century appliance, with all its beauty, technology, and efficiency. It is a good looking stove and easy to use. I definitely would recommend to anyone shopping for this type of stove. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy Life! We have had this unit for about 6 weeks. It is easy to use. Cooks even and fast. We cook breakfast and lunch using flat pans for bacon, eggs, hash browns, and grill cheese. The oven has a top element and fan so the bottom doesn't have a element and is easy to clean. Makes the kitchen look new. Easy to clean. The warming unit is a nice touch. The front burner has two sizes and makes it easier to cook with larger cooking pans. I have read about people scratching the surface but they would have to have the wrong pans or be careless. It is durable and reliable. We have the matching fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. You can't go wrong with the upgrades for the price. January 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Electric Range I love the fact that with a convection oven there is not a heating element on the bottom of the oven. Also the steam clean feature allows for a quick cleanup. I also like the 2 setting feature on the front burners. August 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this stove I purchased this stove about a year ago. I wanted to use it before I wrote a review. I am not disappointed. I use it every day and I love it. The burners heat up quickly and stay at a nice even temp. I like the 2 choices on one burner. The convection oven works great when baking 2 cookie sheets and many rack positions. I have put a few scratches in the slate finish on top just from use. That will happen when you use it. The ceramic top cleans easily also. I have used a cast iron skillet on it and it did leave a scar but it's dark like the top so I can live with it. I really do love the oven and I'm glad I bought it. August 22, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice range only had it a week like convection, like the sleekness and overall look. If it is as good as other GE products it would of been a good purchase. August 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We love our new oven!! We bought this a couple of days ago and used it for the first time last night. Compared to my old glass top that oven did not stay warm after I turned it off. This oven after 30 mins from turning it off leaving my biscuits in there to keep warm, because my husband forget to cook the rice in the rice cooker. I was shocked on how warm the oven still was that the biscuits and pan was still hot. I was completely amazed that they were that hot still 30 mins later. The space and how big it is compared to our old one blows the old one out of the water in compression. I can finally cook a turkey and have side dishes cook in there at the same time will all the room. March 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy so far I've only had this unit for a few months its good so far, my wife doesn't like that the stove top the pots slip theres no grip on the stove top, it cooks faster than my old unit, also to clean top you have to use some elbow grease June 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome stove Love the many features and quality of GE. Totally awesome stove July 29, 2016
