Does the handle on the oven door get hot? Does it have a popping sound when starting? Does the cook top scrach easily?

Asked by: Netta
1 -- The oven handle stays cool, 2 -- I do not hear a popping sound, 3-- I turned on the wrong element and melted a foam plate on it, therefore I had to use a metal scrapper, it did not scratch it.

5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven and Convection in Slate is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 944.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Convection stove My previous GE convection oven came with three oven racks. This one only has two. Very disappointed. Oven fan comes on after reaching preheat temperature. Seems to take longer to preheat than my previous one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love our new oven!! We bought this a couple of days ago and used it for the first time last night. Compared to my old glass top that oven did not stay warm after I turned it off. This oven after 30 mins from turning it off leaving my biscuits in there to keep warm, because my husband forget to cook the rice in the rice cooker. I was shocked on how warm the oven still was that the biscuits and pan was still hot. I was completely amazed that they were that hot still 30 mins later. The space and how big it is compared to our old one blows the old one out of the water in compression. I can finally cook a turkey and have side dishes cook in there at the same time will all the room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price For my needs, it is a great product especially with the sale price. My previous ge smooth cooktop range lasted just over 18 years. I hope this does well, too. I like the bottom element is not exposed...you just have the smooth oven bottom...check it out. We don't have gas utilities here, so this performs very well for electric. Delivery was a snap.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very disappointed in the smooth top - scratches easily. Too early to tell on the features yet but within a week I had deep scratches on the smooth top!. This is the 7th smooth top oven that I have owned. Four of them are currently in rental properties (8 - 12 years old) and none of them have any scratches. This surface is made out of a different material that easily scratches. Disappointed since I was waiting for so long to replace my own stove to have it ruined so quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the price, a great stove and cooktop. We bought this to replace our builder installed GE profile oven/stove which had the cooktop crack on it after 7 years. We are weary of GE prducts in general as none of our builder installed appliances lasted very long and we had upgraded to the Profile series when we purchased the home. For the price and features, and after reading other owner reviews, we decided to buy it. So far this one is no "funcooker", it works great. Power boil has a pot of water boiling in 2 or 3 minutes and uven heats to 400 degrees in less than 5 minutes. Everything we have cooked in the oven so far has cooked evenly and even find ourselves reducing cook times in recipes by a minute or 2. The cook top seems to have a quicker respose to temperature adjustment and the varying size front burners are great. Also much easier to see when cooktop hot with the glowing red through the black top than our old white top stove. Only complaint is there are + and - buttons to set oven temp versus digital settings, but for the price, its something we will live with. This Stove is great value for the price. Heres hoping it lasts more than 7 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this stove I purchased this stove about a year ago. I wanted to use it before I wrote a review. I am not disappointed. I use it every day and I love it. The burners heat up quickly and stay at a nice even temp. I like the 2 choices on one burner. The convection oven works great when baking 2 cookie sheets and many rack positions. I have put a few scratches in the slate finish on top just from use. That will happen when you use it. The ceramic top cleans easily also. I have used a cast iron skillet on it and it did leave a scar but it's dark like the top so I can live with it. I really do love the oven and I'm glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Life! We have had this unit for about 6 weeks. It is easy to use. Cooks even and fast. We cook breakfast and lunch using flat pans for bacon, eggs, hash browns, and grill cheese. The oven has a top element and fan so the bottom doesn't have a element and is easy to clean. Makes the kitchen look new. Easy to clean. The warming unit is a nice touch. The front burner has two sizes and makes it easier to cook with larger cooking pans. I have read about people scratching the surface but they would have to have the wrong pans or be careless. It is durable and reliable. We have the matching fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. You can't go wrong with the upgrades for the price.
