I'm absolutely in love with this oven and all of its features! I have yet to learn how to work it in its entirety, but what I've managed this far...I'm head over heels for! Only disappointment is that my oven light has already burnt out and sometimes when the oven door is open and shut the convection fan is rubbing against the metal casing and making a terrible noise. I should contact them to have it serviced, but haven't had the time.

Overall Good, not excellent. I cook a great deal, 1-3 meals everyday.I love to bake. I looked at lot of stoves. Other than major construction to my kitchen this seemed like the best bet to get more surface area on stove top and the extra cooking drawer. Great features about this stove, extra cooking drawer is a bonus-temp varies & usually need more time than normal but it's good for an apple crisp or pie while dinner is cooking-it's not perfect but it's a great addition- I love the double burners on the left hand side, it's great for a griddle-(NOT the griddle it comes with, that's useless!) and also a roasting pan. The disadvantage of the 2 burners on the side is using them individually, they don't have a lot of power to boil water, etc. My kids are teenagers but if they were younger I would be worried about the touchpad on the front, it's very sensitive and goes on and off very easily!even when you are reaching over to clean. The flat stove top is not as easy to clean as my last flat stove top. The oven bulb has burnt out twice. It's good, not great.

Great range and very attractive. Cooks very well. Love the burner sizes and layout of the burners. A 12" burner at the front was a must for me as well as a bottom oven and this has it. I like the knobs on the front instead of the back of the oven. Creates a lot less cleanup.

We were looking for a glass-top, double-oven, electric range. After looking at all the ovens in this category and in this price range, the CS980STSS stood out. We really liked the styling and overall it has a very solid feel. It also comes with a very nice cast iron griddle. Its performance has been excellent.
However, a few minor complaints have knocked this range down from a perfect five-star rating:
-- In the back of the range is a wire cover that prevents you from pushing the range all the way back against the wall, which looks a bit odd, especially since the sides of the range are painted black. In order to rectify this, I had to create a shallow rectangular notch in the sheetrock into which the wire cover would fit.
-- This is minor, but I wish that the lower oven felt more solid when it opens and closes. (When I first saw this model in the showroom, I didn’t even think it was an oven—it seemed like a storage drawer!) In all fairness, the lower oven works just fine, but I wish the mechanism felt a bit more high-end, in keeping with the GE Café brand.
-- One of the original leveling pegs was stripped and needed to be replaced.
-- This might be more of a customer education and a GE staff training issue, but for a while, this seemed like an unsolvable problem and we thought that we were going to have to return the range… It should be noted that certain cookware will not work properly on this range. I’m not referring to *categories* of cookware; I’m referring to certain makes/models. Let me explain… When we first got the range, we attempted to boil water in a stainless steel pot. It was taking between 25 and 30 minutes to boil, and even when it did boil, it was barely boiling… What would happen is that the burner would shut off just as it starts to boil, and would continue to cycle on and off. We also noticed that this cycling was happening well before the water was boiling (after about 10 minutes), which explains why it took so long to even reach a weak boil. I called a GE service rep who assured me that this was not normal operation, and we scheduled a service call. During the service call, we demonstrated the problem to the repairman, and he said that it was operating in an acceptable manner. He explained that the on/off cycling was normal and that the weak boil was perhaps the best that the range can do. Certain that this could not possibly be the case, I called back customer service. The first person I spoke with told me that if that’s what the repairman said, it must be true. I then spoke with someone else who concurred that this was *not* normal and another appointment was scheduled with a different repairman. Prior to this next appointment, just for fun, I decided to experiment with other models of stainless steel cookware, as well as cookware of other materials. Bingo! Some of the other models worked fine! I cancelled the upcoming service call and bought some new cookware. So while the problem was solved (or at least worked-around), I was amazed that NONE of the FOUR people I spoke with at GE were able to diagnose the problem, and in fact, none of them even seemed to know that this problem existed!
-- This is minor, but there’s one big “double burner” which sits in the front. It would be nice if this were in the back (or have another one in the back). When a big pot is used on this double burner, it makes the two smaller burners behind it difficult to use.
Bottom line: after a couple of installation challenges (the stripped peg and having to notch the wall to accommodate the wire cover), and after the debacle with the cookware, we are happy with the range. Just be prepared to possibly have to replace some of your cookware. (Incidentally, Aubecq and Le Creuset stainless steel cookware did NOT work properly, Cuisinart and Calphalon stainless steel cookware works fine, and Le Creuset enamel-coated cast iron cookware works fine as well.)

I am very happy that I purchased this Cafe Series range. It has the feel of a high quality appliance. I am very satisfied with its performance, both stove top and oven. All the knobs and touch controls are very easy to use. It is also easy to clean.
