Why is the right rear burner not a simmer burner

This question is from 5.6 cu. ft. Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel

The right rear burner is suppose to be a simmer burner but for me to get the flame low enough for me to simmer something on it, I get to hear the ignitors click. I asked this question before only to be told to use the right rear burner and the right rear burner does not allow me to simmer anything on it. The flame is too high. Its either high, clicking ignitors or off and no happy medium. Guess I will have to buy some flame diffusers. I had gas cooktop in my other home prior to buying this stove and I did not have the issues with, that I am having with this one. Not happy!

Hello,
This is Lisa from GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear of your unhappiness. the right rear burner is a simmer burner. Most gas ranges and cooktops are set for natural gas at the factory. If the flames are too high or uneven on surface burners or in the oven, this could be an indication the range or cooktop was improperly converted from a natural gas setting to LP, (Liquid Propane) gas setting.

Hello,
This is Lisa from GE Appliances. Contact your installer or local Gas Company to correctly convert the range or cooktop.
Other causes for uneven flames:
Flame may be uneven where the electrode (igniter) is located.
Some burners intentionally have an uneven flame, like a center oval burner. One side has shorter flames that the other, which decreases the likelihood it will go out because of a closed door, etc.
The Power Boil burner has an irregular teeth pattern. The reason is that the burner is optimized to give both good high "Power Boil" heat performance as well as provide good performance and flame size at other settings.
Additionally, flame problems can occur if the wrong burner head is being used or if the burner head is not sitting flat on the burner base. If you continue to feel it is not operating properly, please contact GE Service at 800.432.2737.

In regards to the simmer burner

This question is from 5.6 cu. ft. Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel

I have this stove but am unable to use the simmer feature. If I turn the burner down to where I could cook something that requires a slow cooking cycle, all of the ignitors start clicking and won't stop. So if I turn it up past there the Lite position, I have a hot flame that cooks anything that is put on that burner very quickly! I had to cook a sugary syrup mixture, what a disaster that was. Put it on the stove, take it off. Put it on again, take it off. It just can't be turned down and I don't know what to do about it. Had it looked and told everything is fine but it's not, especially if I can't do a simmer cook on it!

When I first used my cooktop, the one burner I wanted to use lit up but all the rest of the ignitors were clicking also. The electronic ignitors never stopped clicking the whole time, I spent cooking which was 20 minutes. Is this something that needs to looked at and repaired? My last GE gas cooktop didn't do this!

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 832 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Affordable and Stainless We wanted all stainless and already had the GE Microwave, Dishwasher and Refer. Now the appliances in the kitchen are all matching and look like the high dollar units. Very happy we decided to go stainless and stick to one brand name. July 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this range I have had this range for 3 months. There isn't anything I don't love about it. It is beautiful and cooks and bakes beautifully. Highly recommend. March 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent quality Bought this stove about 5 weeks. Absolutely love it. Our food tastes MUCH better. The convection fan works great and cooks certains types of food much better... it's fun to experiment and taste the difference when using the convection feature. The 5 burners on the range give you great flexibility and the flame/temperature adjustments are very fine and controllable. The simmer burner works great. Have made some soups and sauces on that. The mega-burner (18,000BTU or whatever) boils water in record times. Haven't tried the griddle yet, but will soon. It is very hefty. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy this unit again. October 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it so far! We needed a technician to convert the stove from gas to propane. I love the oven, the convection fan is very quite. I have been using it for just over a week and so far I am very happy with the product. February 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Questioning about Bisque color I went into my Home Depot store on Military Hwy in Norfolk to purchase this range in Bisque. It was just delivered on 12.6.14. I have a GE refrigerator that was purchased in Bisque a year ago - however, the color of these two appliances made by the same manufacturer is very different.....and there is a 3" gap between the wall and the appliance because the back of this appliance is made differently than my Whirlpool was....so much for the flush fit with my cabinetry. This appliance was not cheap and when I raised the question about the color, my concern was handled so poorly by (mgr named Ed) Home Depot management.....resulted in me asking to have my old Whirlpool returned to me. Can anyone from GE explain why the color is so very light that it is easily mistakenly for white which makes my appliances look mismatched.....not a happy camper! Will have to seek a remedy for gap as well. December 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Color We converted our home from oil to natural gas and I finally got my gas convection range after 24 years and I love it. The Slate color is absolutely beautiful. It is more a bronze than a slate but I knew this because we checked out the color at our local Home Depot before purchasing. The Power boil burner does boil water faster than the other burners, however, definitely not as fast as I was expecting. It took 17 minutes to boil 5 quarts of water as opposed to 25 minutes with the non-power boil burner. I never timed my old electric stove. I love the convection multi rake bake. I was able to bake 3 items at the same time on 2 shelves and everything baked evenly. Something I could never do with a non-convection oven. The fan is whisper quiet, I had to put the light on and watch for the fan to turn on to make sure it worked. I would have given this range 5 stars if it weren’t for the storage drawer. It feels flimsy and does not slide smoothly on the rail. I need 2 hands to push it back in. I will not be using the storage drawer. GE has a winner here if the could do something about the storage drawer so it can be used. September 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome! My wife and I are thrilled with this range. The color slate is bold and has an industrial chic look that has transformed our kitchen without a total makeover. The performance of range is exceptional in that it totally has all the functions we required and then some. We have yet to use the convection oven for baking but we look forward to using it during the upcoming holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have also gotten great reviews from family and friends. August 25, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by somewhat disapointed and be prepared to move gas line The qualifty of this stove is what I am disappointed in. The corners on one side do not align. The holes in the frame of the door show on one side. It also, is a bit lighter than the GE dishwasher I bought only 9 months ago. The features suit my needs. It is unfortunate, that there are not more high end choices in appliances other than stainless. Also, be prepared to have your gas line moved. I had to have my gas line moved to get the stove to push all the way back. It stuck out about 3 inches because the back of the stove hit my gas line. Not a problem with my old stove. July 2, 2015
