Customer Questions & Answers

I can't tell from the pictures, and our local Home Depot stores do not have slate on display. Is the top also slate, or is it black?

Also, please confirm the dimensions. In one Home Depot store, the clerk told us this won't fit because our opening is only 30", stating this model requires 31.5". At our other local Home Depot, the clerk said, "Of course it will fit. All ovens are standard 30"; it's 31.5" with the slide-in lips." Clerk #1 was pushing Samsung slide-ins over G.E., since website dimensions say 30" for Samsung. The clerk at the first store that told us it wouldn't fit, also said Home Depot does not install slide-in ranges, only free standing. The other store's clerk said that isn't true. Who's correct and who needs additional training? Clerk #1 said she's sold Home Depot appliances for 16 years, while clerk #2 said 3 years. Thanks!

Customer Reviews

5.6 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 337.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs well but... The gas range performs well and I love that the oven controls can be easily read. However, the heavy grate causes deep scratches on the stainless steel surface of the control panel no matter how carefully handled while cleaning and because the sides of the range overlaps onto the countertop, the weight of the grate makes it difficult to pull open the adjacent drawer. Also the surface is a rough texture, making it hard to clean up spills. As for the oven interior, spillage from roasting sweet potatoes on a sheet pan caused a permanent stain even though it was wiped up immediately after the oven cooled. Spills on the burner tops are also difficult to remove. Scrubbing with a Scotch Brite pad seems to remove the finish while using a Magic Eraser did a better job without affecting the finish.

The color is perfect. I only have one complaint the marketing description/brochure list under "Features and Benefits": • Center round burner - Ideal for delicate foods and sauces • Precise simmer burner - Delicate foods don’t burn with low, even heat The range was delivered and installed a week ago and I have not found this "Feature and Benefit to be true. I read and reread the Manuals that were delivered with the range and I went on line and tried to find more details or other information about how to setup and use the range. I finally called the Customer Service Line and asked if I it might have the wrong burner orifices or if there was some way to fine tune the burners' heat output and reduce the BTU output accordingly. I was told that those specifications are only attainable in the testing lab. This is the primary reason for rating the Range as "AVERAGE."

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Attractive oven with modern details I bought this oven 5 months ago. The stainless steel cooktop surface is rather difficult to clean. Because the burner dials are on a slant, they catch more grease, and must be removed to clean the surface underneath properly. The largest burner is on the left side, rather than the right side. I am right handed, so it is not the best location for me. I suppose I should have noticed this when I decided to purchase the oven in the store. In addition, the oven did not come with a broiler pan. This was not an inexpensive model, and I would have expected the broiler pan to be included. On the position side, the oven temperature is accurate and baked goods come out perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beach House Stove Absolutely love this stove for my beach house at the NJ shore. Fits perfectly into a 30" opening and has crumb guards on each side that slide over the edges of the counter so nothing slips down the sides. It looks classy and fits right in with the rest of my SS appliances.. FYI, I have a Maytag DW, Frigidaire Refridgerator and Sharp microwave, and you can't tell they are different brands. I have the same GE Cafe model at my primary residence and this one has stronger burners and cooks my oatmeal faster, so beware. The grates are cast iron, and don't scratch and are very heavy, so they feel real solid. I can't say too many good things about it, but I have only owned it for 3 months as of May 2016, so time will tell. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stove ever! First gas stove we've ever purchased. What a great stove. Our biggest surprise was how well it baked. We were told the weakness of s gas stove was baking. That's why many people go with dual fuel. We quickly found that to be unnecessary. Our works perfectly. Easy clean up and great controls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cooks great, easy to clean Bought this 2 months ago and love it! Easy to control heat on the cook top, accurate oven temp and easy to clean. Looks great in my kitchen. Overlooked great feature is the lip on the sides. This prevents any spillage between the stove and the cabinet.

Love the slate look and its easy to clean. Especially love the slight over hang of the top so there is no gap between the counter and the oven for food to fall into.

Within a week it was throwing an F71 code. The oven was also not heating even. I was told by GE's help line to reset the stove. Shutting it off for 30 seconds at the breaker. I did and it reset. It worked fine until March 1st when I tried to auto clean the oven. It starting beeping loud and it threw a F64 code and Error 5. I again called their help line and was told they needed to send a tech. Then I received a call from the repair place. They told me that if I reset the stove after it threw the code, and it wasn't having an issue at the time, the repair place wouldn't be able to find a problem. They said if they come and can't find anything wrong that GE would charge me for the visit. I was furious!!! This stove is less than 3 months old and is already giving me this kind of trouble. I called GE help line again. The person told me that they could get a manager to waive any fees for checking out the stove. Why there would be a fee for checking out a 3 month old stove that is throwing codes is beyond me. I would never purchase another GE stove because of the lack of quality control. I just hope I didn't waste my money on this one. So far resetting does seem to help.
