Will my guests see a visually appealing back end of the protruding venting system

Will my guests see a visually appealing back end of the protruding venting system - admiring GE and how everything was so thought out including covering the other side (back end) venting portion with the same beautiful Stainless Steel backing like the front of the oven? Or will they "lose their lunch" and wonder how "Gosh and Tacky" GE was for not thinking that a "slide in counter top Oven Range" that's really meant to be for an island/peninsula counter would have snobby guests sitting on the opposite side staring at and laughing at the Chef's poor taste for buying such an unsightly back end?

Hello Jeswan12 - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This is a beautiful slide-in gas range. It does not have a child lock feature. It has a door lock that is automatic when using the self-cleaning feature. You may want to check with a company that specializes in child proof lock products for appliances. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SO-SO READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THE POTENTIAL NEGATIVES: Okay, it's a beautiful oven. Absolutely. Also it's current on a great Memorial Day Sale. Also good. GE is a good name, and at least last I checked it was made in the USA. Also, who wants a Samsung or LG stove? They make laptops, why are they also making oven/stoves? But there are issues with this product: 1) You never see it ON in the store. Maybe for good reason. The clock is hard to read with really chunky numbers with gaps between each LCD part. 2) The glass touch-screen doesn't respond to a fingertip tap. You have to fat-finger it. Is this a child-safety feature? It definitely doesn't respond like my phone touch screen. If you use a fingertip you have to hit it hard. 3) The use of the oven buttons is absolutely inscrutable. When you go to tap in a time the seconds digits are actually minutes, and the minutes are hours. Also there's a START button, so you can't just set something, as it doesn't stay. All the buttons are the same size and color, so there's no quick way to see and recognize START. Or anything really. You have to go reading all the buttons to figure out which is which. Every time. When the timer goes off you can't hit the button that says STOP/CANCEL. Because that's for the oven. You have to hit TIMER. There are lights on some of the buttons, like OVEN to let you know it's on. But the OVEN LIGHT button has no light on it. So you can't tell when you're looking down whether the light is on or off. If you left it on last time then hitting the button to turn the light on actually turns it off, which you don't know until you bend down and see nothing. We've done this a number of times. OF COURSE THERE ARE WORKAROUNDS for all these things, and we may just need to learn our stove, but as a 40 year old with advanced degrees, when my stove makes me feel like an idiot I've gotta assume that part of the responsibility for that lies with the team that designed the user interface. 4) Honestly, my sense of this oven is that it's been optimized to sell on a showroom floor, not optimized to actually be used as an oven. 5) To use the griddle we turned the knob to GRIDDLE/PREHEAT/5 MINUTES MAX. The way the dial is printed it appears that the zone is for either the griddle, or if you're preheating something with the burner. So we set it for griddle and started using it. Eventually the whole thing became so hot everything was burning instantly on it. Then come to find out that the zone is for preheating the griddle. And the sparse paperwork says don't overheat the griddle because it'll permanently damage the non-stick. Well guess what, we permanently damaged the non-stick because the dial said "GRIDDLE" so we turned it to griddle to use the griddle. 6) Honestly, I'd return this if it was possible. Hey maybe it is, it's only been here for a week. It's just a terribly designed appliance in nearly every way. 7) The metal pieces on which pans sit are so high over the gas that it takes forever to boil water, even with a burner on high. 8) The oven came with NO USERS MANUAL. There's a flyer that says that if you really want a manual you can download it. --which is what brought me to the computer right now. To get the user manual I needed the serial number, so I came back to the Home Depot website, and while I was here I thought I'd share. 9) PLEASE READ THE ABOVE! AN INFORMED CONSUMER IS A POWERFUL CONSUMER. THEN IF YOU STILL WANT THE OVEN YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING. 10) Good luck. I'm off to read the fine print to see if we can return this. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love 5 times the love OMG is the first thing I want to say. It is sleak, low profile and perfect in my budget french modern kitchen. The 5 burners are amazing and powerful. The oven is more than functional and there is plenty of space in the bottom drawer to hold pans/pots. The other thing I love is that the stove, under the burners, is stainless steel not black. It was easy to install but heavy. It comes with a child proof attachment to the wall. If you open the door hard and quickly the stove slightly tips forward. My only advice is to purchase the stainless steel wipes from Weiman. The stove needs to be cleaned constantly due to smudges and oil spray stain. May 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! This is a beautiful oven. i've been using it for about a month now. it cleans up amazingly well for stainless steel. The top grill pattern is very smart and usable. My only complaint is the arrangement of the burners. I simmer more than cook, so I would like a front smaller btu burner. small complaint i know, and i live with it just fine. now for the oven: I love the double broil option. it also cleans up remarkable well. the smart features on this product are very easy to use. i love the convection option as well. I bake at least 5 days a week and have no complaints with how this oven performs. Everything cooks evenly. I found i don't need to adjust baking temps or times for the convection which makes keeping my recipes constant a lot easier. I also like how the edges hang over the counter a bit, i have not dropped one thing between the oven and counter since i got it! The bottom storage drawer slides out easier than any other oven i have ever used. This is a pricey oven on my budget, I even got it on sale, but with my excessive use, so far, I feel it has been worth every penny! May 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent oven! New remodel Excellent oven. Have had it now since June of 2014 and was installed as part of a complete remodel. It works really good and has quite a few features that we have yet to use (or figure out). Slides on plastic feet protectors which is good and adjusts very well so we fit it into place without any issues what so ever. It has a recessed gas connection area which is perfect for allowing you to slide the range in as close to the wall as possible leaving only the minimum required by the manufacture. January 7, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Quality The range had missing trim screws, and a broken handle. Not impressed. February 5, 2016
