Answer:
sure as long as there is a 50 CB in your main panel. Can it be hooked directly without one? not legally.
PS: if you're piggy backing this on a hot tub circuit that's a big no no. Hot tub circuits require a special panel, breaker etc. and laying an RV circuit on top of the hot tub load is dangerous at best. If your panel has capacity and room for another 220-240 volt CB fine but if not, nope!

Have to ask why you need a 50a 220-240 connection for your RV. If you're planning on someone living in it better check with the county first. Most places the time frame is short (120 days) and a permit is required first and most places only occaisionally allow a single renewal at most. I have my 41'er plugged into a 30A 120v fixture and it works fine, even running one of my two AC units. Also the wire is less the CB is less and so on.

As long as the wiring in your hot tub corresponds...you are bringing out two hots and a neutral so you will get 220 at the outlet.

Answer:
Yes, it is a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Code requires that it be installed with a 50 amp breaker. It is rated to draw up to 50 amps or 40 amps if your load is continuous such as electric vehicle charging. It supplies both 240v and 120v and is commonly installed for RVs, appliances, and EV charging.

Answer:
Temporary as in plugging in your travel trailer, your welder or your tesla is fine. Living in your travel trailer or tesla makes it permanent by code and is not fine.

I used it for a job that I did to install an exterior Charging station for a Tesla. The client didn't have a garage nor a carport, so I installed this Weatherproof Exterior Box and He plugs into it when he gets home and unplugs the cord and takes it with him when he leaves. That is what the "Temporary" part means. Hope this helped.

Answer:
Yes the idea of s breaker is for a surge in power so you need to know the max amps the device you are using requires. Max amps is typically found in the start up cycle then tappers off to continuous amps. But a 20amp breaker should be plenty for a 16amp draw.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great 50 amp outdoor box at a great price These are great boxes at a great price. The ground pole is at the top so either buy a male connector (NEMA 14-50) that has the ground post at the top (so the cord hangs down) or one that you can assemble either way. Pay no attention to the review/s that say the cover will not close. They did not do their homework and bought the wrong box or cordset/adapter for their RV. As to Hot Tubs, unless you turn your Hot Tub off when plugging in your RV or anything else you run the risk of overloading the circuit, popping your breaker or burning the place down! Don't take that shortcut. Install a separate circuit for your RV or whatever you are connecting. Best Bob October 16, 2015
