Ill get right to the point. Take the front panel off. Take the filter off. The wire with the yellow end is the temp probe. Detach the temp probe from the condenser. Take the 2 plastic tabs off the temp probe. Make a small slit in the filter to run the probe through. Run the probe through the filter and put the filter back on so the wire is coming through it. Then reattach the front panel and at the same time run the probe through a vent opening on the front panel. Now the temp probe is on the outside of the ac unit and it reads the room temp instead of the very cold air right next to the condenser. With the temp probe right next to the condenser, the probe doesn't read the right temp unit the fan turns back on to draw warm room temperature air over the probe. Ill say probe one more time, lol. GE should hire me. Ill make jet engines!! It is a good ac unit!!!!!!! UNIT

Rated 5 out of 5Â by RobinJBR Efficient window unit
We have an upstairs bedroom suite that was gutted and converted from an attic, i.e. it can get a little stuffy and warm. This little unit is perfect for the square footage (300-400) and has an Energy Saver feature that's nice to leave on for the day just to keep it from getting stupid-hot up there. After dinner, we change it to the Cool setting and we're ready for cool, nighttime sleeping.
Because this is a window unit made for a smallish area, I took into consideration that it's going to be louder than central air or even a fan, for that matter.
As for installation, my very capable, yet non-handyman husband was able to install the unit without problems or injury.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by xrilander Cools great, but not for night workers.
Bought this to replace an 8 year old Fedders 5200btu unit that had a bad compressor. I have a small bedroom, but strong sun from noon onwards. This caused the little Fedders to struggle to keep the room cool as I work nights. This one cools great, but daylight shines right through the vents. Seems like they used a very thin Styrofoam panel that is VERY translucent. If you work nights, like a dark room, and light sensitivity is an issue, you might want to try a different unit.
