Customer Questions & Answers

So I can't input a SKU and find which stores in my area have it? I have to go to each store's site and check? Hmm.

Asked by: Bruce
Also, there is a link on the web page for the A/C unit which says, "Want it now? Search internet # 203188066 to check store availability," which seems like just what I want, but it doesn't work the way I expected it to. No matter, I bought an A/C unit elsewhere. Pity. I like Home Depot.

Can this unit be used to replace a wall unit that died? If not, why not. What is the difference between a window and wall unit?

Asked by: Anonymous
window unite have vents on each side and some on the top required to cool the unit. they would be blocked in put in a box causing overheating and possibly a fire. wall units vents thru the rear, not the sides. also wall units are more heavy duty and more expensive.

We've been told that we must buy a unit with a "top skirt for window installation". Does this unit have that? What is that? Thanks!

Asked by: Anonymous
You probably have a high window or one that slides open as opposed to a up and down sash. This AC is designed for a sash type window that would open by lifting up as opposed to sliding left or right to open. If your window slides open far enough for the AC to fit in the opening you could fabricate a skirt yourself out of sheet metal, wood,or plastic.

Noise level?

On the energy saver mode, does the ac make much noise going on and off? Also, how does the Home Depot model compare with the same model sold by other vendors? Thank you for your assistance.

Customer Reviews

6,400 BTU 115 Volt Window Air Conditioner with Remote is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 225.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to use but don't last! I bought my GE 6,400 BTU in June 2015 and you only get about four months per summer. Well mine is freezing up along the bottoms and reads 82-89 degrees and won't go down every time. I can only work the fan and that's it! Not happy at all. I would recommend GE but unsuccessful in actually speaking to someone about wanting to exchange.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works GREAT in Florida. I live in HOT, HUMID Florida and I put this unit in my rather large bedroom. It's ice cold and quiet. Has nice remote and you can use the energy saver if you want. If it works this well in Florida that tells you about all you need to know. Excellent price and free shipment, what more do you want. I have a Home Depot 3 miles away but I still had it shipped. Why waist my time and gas when I can get it shipped for free, It's all GOOD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice unit, packed with care. This replaced a wall unit in a mobile home. It comes with a quality power cord with a tester built into it. The remote comes with batteries. It is quiet. No louder than any ac unit I've ever heard. The warranty card had all the information needed about my particular unit already printed on a strip so all I needed to do was fill out my address and send it in. Comes with weather stripping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ms Great product for the money! It cools the room quickly and stay relatively around the same temperature no matter how hot or cool it is outdoors. The downside to it is the cheap construction. It's a lot lighter than my previous model, but lots of plastic. The filter is located on the front of this model and you have to pop off the plastic lid to get to it. I feel like it's a matter of time before someone in the house accidentally breaks the prongs that holds the front cover, but that remains to be seen. Over-all I'm loving this model and glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent air conditioner!! In stalled it, turned it on and it did the rest!! It shows the temperature of the room when you turn it on and continues doing so as it cools down the room! Some say it is noisy but I don't think so! I think it is a GREAT machine. Jim

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for a great price I purchased this unit for an elderly parent who lives in a three room apartment. Not only does it cool down the entire apartment but it runs super quiet. The remote control makes it easy to change the settings while in bed or the next room. The shipping was easy, the delivery was on time and set up took no effort at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product is perfect for it's size. My room is 9'x15', and I bought this AC few weeks ago. We've been having heat waves in NYC and this AC makes the room cold. I keep sleeping with my blanket on and I turn it off at one point during the night cause I wake up freezing. Great prduct for the price. Easy to install as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Air Conditioner for a small space I purchased this low cost window air conditioner and installed it through the wall into the garage. I had to frame it on the inside and the outside much like a picture frame. Also need to support the back end in the garage so the unit does not fall out and I was able to maintain a slight angle so the residual water would fall into the garage. The remote control is a great feature as the unit is positioned about 1' from the ceiling. It has sufficient speeds, settings, and other controls. Overall, I think it will be a good purchase and will be used conveniently during the hot days of summer.
