Also, there is a link on the web page for the A/C unit which says, "Want it now? Search internet # 203188066 to check store availability," which seems like just what I want, but it doesn't work the way I expected it to. No matter, I bought an A/C unit elsewhere. Pity. I like Home Depot.

Do what I did, call the store and was told they didn't have it in stock but if I ordered it it would be in within two days which I did then they asked if I wanted it to be delivered to the store or my house, no extra charge. Two days later it was sitting on the floor in the room I was going to install it in, hands off.

If your sure this is the right size for your needs and do the proper resurch, why bother going to the store? Order it on line and have it delivered to your home. That's what we did and it all worked out great. You don't even need to leave your home. If things don't work out you can return it to your store.

The design of these fins are to help exhaust heat from the unit, not from your house. So, if the window unit fins are obstructed it 'MAY' cause the unit to not properly vent it's own heat which will eventually lead to unit failure sooner rather than later.
The thickness of your exterior wall plays into effect when using a window or wall unit. The window unit will work, but along with the heat venting issue. The fan blades the evaporate the water from the bottom of the unit may also throw some of that water into the sides of your wall creating moister in-between the inner and outer walls which in turn will create the dreaded mold issue.
In other words, the wall unit is specifically designed so that none of the about will happen.

Answer:
You probably have a high window or one that slides open as opposed to a up and down sash.
This AC is designed for a sash type window that would open by lifting up as opposed to sliding left or right to open.
If your window slides open far enough for the AC to fit in the opening you could fabricate a skirt yourself out of sheet metal, wood,or plastic.

Personally I like using a piece of plywood cut to the size of the unit to fill the gap(s) that you can easily slide the unit in and out of for Cleaning and Winter Storage. Most Home Depot Stores have pre cut pieces of plywood 2'x4' and 4'x4' at very reasonable prices to do just that and you can paint them any color you like.

My initial take on this unit was that it was very loud. This year I have it in a different room and have come to the conclusion that it was the vibrations due to the storm window that caused it to be so loud. Overall I'm very happy with the noise level with this ac unit. I would rate the volume level as med-low. Go get it!

6,400 BTU 115 Volt Window Air Conditioner with Remote is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 224.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works GREAT in Florida. I live in HOT, HUMID Florida and I put this unit in my rather large bedroom. It's ice cold and quiet. Has nice remote and you can use the energy saver if you want. If it works this well in Florida that tells you about all you need to know. Excellent price and free shipment, what more do you want. I have a Home Depot 3 miles away but I still had it shipped. Why waist my time and gas when I can get it shipped for free, It's all GOOD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice unit, packed with care. This replaced a wall unit in a mobile home. It comes with a quality power cord with a tester built into it. The remote comes with batteries. It is quiet. No louder than any ac unit I've ever heard. The warranty card had all the information needed about my particular unit already printed on a strip so all I needed to do was fill out my address and send it in. Comes with weather stripping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent air conditioner!! In stalled it, turned it on and it did the rest!! It shows the temperature of the room when you turn it on and continues doing so as it cools down the room! Some say it is noisy but I don't think so! I think it is a GREAT machine. Jim

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ms Great product for the money! It cools the room quickly and stay relatively around the same temperature no matter how hot or cool it is outdoors. The downside to it is the cheap construction. It's a lot lighter than my previous model, but lots of plastic. The filter is located on the front of this model and you have to pop off the plastic lid to get to it. I feel like it's a matter of time before someone in the house accidentally breaks the prongs that holds the front cover, but that remains to be seen. Over-all I'm loving this model and glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for a great price I purchased this unit for an elderly parent who lives in a three room apartment. Not only does it cool down the entire apartment but it runs super quiet. The remote control makes it easy to change the settings while in bed or the next room. The shipping was easy, the delivery was on time and set up took no effort at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product is perfect for it's size. My room is 9'x15', and I bought this AC few weeks ago. We've been having heat waves in NYC and this AC makes the room cold. I keep sleeping with my blanket on and I turn it off at one point during the night cause I wake up freezing. Great prduct for the price. Easy to install as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Will only last 2 years before dying The Air-conditioner was good while it lasted. I got two summers coverage out of it before it went kaput. The fan is blowing but the unit no longer cools. Was informed that there are no parts for these models as they are manufactured on the lower end of the scale and are basically designed not to last. Invest in a better priced item with a longer than 1 yr warranty.
Date published: 2015-05-12
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Air Conditioner for a small space I purchased this low cost window air conditioner and installed it through the wall into the garage. I had to frame it on the inside and the outside much like a picture frame. Also need to support the back end in the garage so the unit does not fall out and I was able to maintain a slight angle so the residual water would fall into the garage. The remote control is a great feature as the unit is positioned about 1' from the ceiling. It has sufficient speeds, settings, and other controls. Overall, I think it will be a good purchase and will be used conveniently during the hot days of summer.
