A year later on February 28, 2014, we had to have the ignitor in the bottom oven replaced and since we didn't purchase the warranty it was on us because it was over the 1 year mark. OK, well things happen and we use the range and lower over heavily,so we thought it would be fine. September rolls around and we had to have the same part replaced again. We're now inching toward $400 for the same part to be replaced. I've reached out to GE and have received no response from them. This shouldn't be happening but guess what? Went to turn on the lower oven on Sunday and again, it will not heat so anticipating that this will be the third time the ignitor is not working!! Overall, I love this range. The cooktop provide great space, heating and the 5th burner is great. The smaller top oven is great but easily burns if baking anything. I'm hoping someone from GE will read this and provide us with an option for what to do. October 8, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A Big Regret I bought this oven with high expectations because of the specifications and the price. I paid a considerable amount for it and expected a product of high quality backed by a well-known manufacturer’s one-year warranty. I’ve owned this oven less than 5 months, and since then have learned that it performs worse than the 15-year old oven it replaced. If I’d known how this oven would perform, I would never have dreamed of buying it. I'll start with the pre-heat indicator. Regardless of what temperature I set my ovens to (top and lower), the oven will signal that it has reached the set temp after around 5 minutes. I always have to wait at least 10 minutes longer, sometimes 15, for the oven to actually reach the set temp. What good is this feature, when it's consistently unreliable? That’s the least of my complaints. The next is the nauseating plastic-like smell that wafts from the oven at baking temps of around 350 and up. You would think 4+ months of use will have been enough to break the oven in. Apparently not. Then there’s the mysteriously sawed-off screws on the underside of the griddle plate. There are scratch marks on the plate to indicate that the screws have been filed down as well. Makes me question why my supposedly brand new oven arrived appearing altered. On top of these three issues is my real complaint, which is the fact that one side of the oven heats much hotter than the other, the difference being up to 50 degrees F at times. I discovered this the first time I baked a batch of cookies in the upper oven. The cookies on the left side of the baking sheet had burnt bottoms. The ones on the right were fine. I tried baking in the lower oven and got the same results, although less drastically. I went and bought two identical thermometers, calibrated them with equipment from the professional lab that I work in, and even with corrections made for the errors in these thermometers, found that the left side of my upper oven bakes up to 50 degrees hotter than the right side. This is simply unacceptable. I called GE about this issue, and they sent a GE tech. The first thing this tech told me when hearing my problem was that there’s nothing he can do about it. He stayed to run some tests with his temperature probe, which involved placing the probe in the center of the oven. I suggested placing two probes at the same time, one on each side of the oven, and observing the temp difference. He said that they aren’t authorized to run that kind of test, that they must place the probe in the center. He left. My problem remained unresolved. GE sent a second tech. This one ran the same tests, although he spent more time on it. He was able to confirm that my oven cycles properly, which simply means that the oven goes through cycles of warming and cooling properly. Although he, too, was unable to place two probes in the oven at the same time, he was willing to observe the heating with the probe placed first on one side of the oven, then on the other. He confirmed that there was a significant temperature difference between left and right sides, but apologized for the fact that there is no adjustment to be made to correct the problem. The problem, it seems, is in the design of the oven itself. GE sent a third tech, this time from a contracted servicer. Within literally minutes, this tech confirmed what the previous two had concluded--there’s no adjustments to be made for this issue. At this point, I’m forced to conclude that the quality of this oven is very inferior. Baking is the main feature of any oven, and mine can’t even perform this very basic function properly. I’m not sure if I just got the rare lemon or what, but all I can do is form my opinion based on my personal experience. As such, I would advise against buying this GE oven. It definitely has not been worth my money or time. May 30, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding oven at a great price Bought the GE 6.8 Cu Ft gas double oven on sale and had it delivered in less than a week (they had to order it). It was delivered on time though it was missing one of the leveling feet adjusters which the store replaced (after a bit of a "disagreement" with the store rep who wanted to order one vs. taking one off a floor model). Have been using the oven for over 2 months now and love it! First, the cast iron griddle is great. I had only one issue with it when the grilling side started to rust a bit (which according to the manual is pre-seasoned). But I cleaned it, greased it up and baked it for an hour (seasoned it) and the problem is fixed. Easy to clean up, easy to put on, easy to use and when your done with it, just replace with the center grate. The high capacity burner is wonderful and really heats anything on it very quickly though you have to be careful of the pot handles as they do heat up. The stove top is easy to clean and everything comes apart easily for cleaning in the sink dish water (when things get really messy). The double ovens are outstanding. I baked for Christmas and I have never had such even heating and perfect baked goods out of my old electric oven. There is plenty of room in both the bottom and top oven as this is one of the larger capacity ovens for a standard width opening (though it does stick out past the counter by about 3 inches and above the counter top by about an inch(not including the door handles or grate tops). I checked the temperature calibration and it was spot on for both ovens up to 425 degrees. However the top oven was off by about 15 degrees past 425. The only negative I have is that the oven timer only works in whole minutes so you don't get a seconds timer...that is pretty minor though. I highly recommend this oven for anyone who is a gas stove/oven person (which for any chef is a must). This is really a very good product! December 29, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a great combo - dual ovens I bake for farmers markets on weekends so I bought this range to double my production. It actually has slowed my ability to bake compared to my old plain gas range. The top small oven burns on the bottom while the tops remain raw. I think this oven is really just for pizza where you want the bottoms browned and the tops lightly cooked. Also for basic breads where the temps are only around 350 or 300 then I can get it to work. The range for temps goes to 550 but the oven just doesn't work at those higher temps. Artisan breads are baked at 460 degrees. The bottom oven, is very uneven in baking. With and without the two types of convection the left side cooking is just hotter than the rest of the oven. Also, the vents for the oven come out under the control pad. Not a problem if you are not cooking anything on the top. I use the left back burner for boiling water while baking, it warped the control panel plastic cover. Its a bad design for the control panel and location of oven vents. After noticing the plastic warping I used a inferred thermometer and the control panel was at about 350 degrees I'm sad from my purchase and wish I could have tested the oven before buying. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Both Ovens Had Temp Problems I've had the stove for about 5 weeks. I've always done a LOT of baking (cupcakes, cookies, pastries, etc). Nothing was coming out right. Put thermometers in both ovens. Found the fluctuation of the oven temperatures was awful. With the temp set at 350 the temperature would go up and down during baking as much as 30 degrees in either direction with no consistency. GE Repair Tech came and confirmed that it was happening (not my imagination) but just said that was normal and there was nothing he could do. Say what??? I pay almost $2,000 for a stove and it can't maintain a consistent temperature? That's just wrong. Called Home Depot and they have agreed to swap it out for another brand. Since the GE Repair Tech said that was normal for GE I certainly wasn't going to swap it out for the same thing. Will continue to shop at Home Depot...just won't buy GE anymore. February 21, 2014
