Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by judykbh Takes too long to dry the clothes.
This dryer has great features like the light inside, easy to use lint filter, large capacity, and all the settings I need, but it just takes really long to get the clothes dry. My previous GE dryer did a much more efficient job. I wanted a gas dryer because they typically perform better than electric models (drying clothes faster) so I went to the added expense and effort to install a gas line and also to improve the exhaust venting path for maximum airflow. But this dryer does not perform well! So I'm really disappointed and feel I wasted all that extra money and time.

I just bought a house that is less than a year old and this dryer came with it. It is the worst laundry experience I've ever had in my 45 years. The draft from opening the door sends lint into the dryer onto the clothes and all over the floor. The lint is all over the door and front of dryer. I have to clean the dryer before I remove the clothes or they are covered in lint. I have cleaned it out and no change. I called and there is no part to avoid this - I was told it is how it was designed. As a new homeowner, I can say I will never buy a GE product if this is the quality they produce. The dry time is quick and the dryer is quiet, but the clean-up of the dryer and my floor required for each load is insane!!

I bought this dryer in early 2013. The dryer does a good job in drying clothes. Has different drying cyles, has a drum light and is normally quiet.
The Timer and Start switch failed in the first year and was replaced under warranty. After the 1 year warranty expired the replacement timer is getting hard to turn again and has caused me to replace the timer knobs a few times. Just a matter of time before it goes again. However the latest is that the machine is starting to groan/hum loudly. I took it apart checking that the machine and house lint and venting system were good. I also verified that the rear bearing and front guides were good. At this point i believe the motor needs replacement.
GE.. I expect the dryer to last at least 5 years...you can do better than this.

POOR QUALITY- I purchased this dryer in 2013. The dryer overall works fine in drying clothes. However Quality is not good. Within 6 months of use the timer broke. It was covered under the 1 year warranty. However a 1 1/2 years later the timer has failed again- same problem. I called GE and since the dryer is now out warranty they would provide only a 20% discount on the part . Not really any discount as online retailers such as Appliance Parts pros sell the same GE timer for less.
Summary- If you dont mind having spending around $80 in parts plus probably $100 in labor (if you are not handy) every 6-8 months after buying it.. go ahead, but otherwise I would recommend something other than GE.
