Does it require both outlets to plug in?

I have two, three-prong outlets in my rental unit, but oddly, both outlets are turned sideways in the faceplate. (A nightlight, for example, would be lying horizontally on its side when plugged in.)

I have seen other taps with breakers similar to this, but they have a plastic 'prong' meant to plug into the bottom outlet (perhaps as an anchor) while the tap itself plugs into the top outlet. In my case, it would not fit, as the 'prong' would come up against the wall.

Does this have anything similar to that, or could this be used on a sideways or bottom outlet?

Answer:
You could always try breaking off the plastic prong and the using the enclosed long screw to screw it securely into the outlet after removing the faceplate.

Answer:
This Tap plugs into the top outlet and has a plastic prong which would go into the ground of the bottom socket. The tab plastic tab could be cut off but the Tap would probably still cover, at least partially, any adjacent sockets. The Tap does require a three prong socket, the ground pin should not be cut off.

When I was about to install this product, the screw fell down the drain. I would prefer to replace the screw than to buy a new unit or disassemble the plumbing in search of the lost screw.
Thank you for your assistance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a good idea I like the way this is set up to accept six plugs, with 4 being angled on the sides. The built in breaker is a nice touch, though I haven't really tested it yet. January 26, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Built in circuit breaker a must My wife used to overload a circuit and I'd have to go outside to reset the breaker. Now this does the job for me. This is the best I've seen of this type of multi-outlet unit. Highly recommended. December 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific This is great. Now I can plug everything in at once. It does wobble a little when you pull something out, so, you may want to take off the face plate and use the long screw that comes with it to re screw it back into the wall to make it more steady. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good design Lets you plug in multiple wall warts and use all of the sockets. Installed wall wart does not block other outlets so all can be used. December 31, 2013
