In November 2012 I purchased and installed this timer made in China by Jascoproducts (a USA company) for GE. I programmed it and it worked fine. In April 2013 (17 months later) when having to reprogram it, the programming functions would not work. I called Jascoproducts and was told by customer service, "... it's past the one-year warranty period ... we won't replace it ... you need to buy a new one ... that timer usually lasts 5-6 years." Aside from being PO'd about it crumping after only 17 months, I was astounded that the Jasco rep said these units normally last 5-6 years, as though that length of time was something to brag about. Doesn't seem to be anything made to last any more.

Timer was great when it was working. After 1 1/2 years, it completely stopped working. I can hear the relay switches trying to close the circuit - but nothing happens. Unacceptable in my opinion. Local Home Depot store stopped carrying all GE outdoor timers - probably had too many returns since this is a lousy product!
Save yourself the time and hassle - buy a good mechanical timer from Intermatic.

Item was received in excellent condition and well before scheduled delivery time. Installation was straight forward however, the timer did not initially work as advertised. After I set in the desired programs and switched to the timer position, the power to the load did not activate. I tried the same procedure several times with the same negative result. I contacted the manufacturer/distributor and they told me if it was not working after doing all that, the device must be defective and to return it. They even suggested I exchange it at my local Home Depot store, but that was impossible since it was an "On-line ONLY order"! I then went to HD and purchased a manual timer since I needed the timer to schedule my pool pump, before I went on a vacation and didn't have time to return and get a replacement. While preparing to remove the first timer, I tried switching to timer and lo and behold, it started working! No obvious reason for that so I returned the manual timer to HD.

Used as a timer for my inground pool pump. Install was not terribly difficult, but the programming was a bit tedious. After a year of use (really 7 months since the pool pump doesn't run October through March), it stopped working. I could manually press the contacts together on the timer to get the pool pump to run, but it wouldn't run when set to "On" or through the timer programming. I should have spent the few extra dollars last time and bought an Intermatic unit - which is what I did this week when I replaced it. It is funny that Home Depot no longer carries this unit in-store....
