I needed to get one right away because my old 65 pt dh quit working. I bought this GE model at the store, where there were few choices. This one is more expensive than some, but as I recall, the reviews online were pretty good, and I didn't want to spend any more time shopping.
It has been running for a couple of months now, and I am happy with it. It is very effective at keeping my 2,000 sf basement dry. 2 features I especially like are: A light comes on to tell you when to clean the filter, and the connection for the drain hose is inside above the bucket, so that if it leaks there, it drips into the bucket, not onto the floor.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Retiredat58 Better of the 3 brands I tried.
I tried 2 other brands, the GE unit worked the best, but it was the most expensive. The first brand I tried, the fan ran constant, that was not for me. The second, the fan would cycle off, but would start back up almost immediately. The common issue with all 3 Brands is the humidistat would jump up 15% to 20% within a couple of minutes of turning off. It seems like when the air stops moving though, all the moisture inside (from the coils and reservoir) cause this to happen. I think that is why most Brands just keep the fan on constant sampling the air from the room vs. inside the cabinet. The GE unit adjusts the percentage in 5% increments. So if you set it at 55%, then it cycles off at 50, and then back on at 60%. The GE will at least stay shut down (compressor & fan) for at least 5-10 minutes. Also the GE compressor was the quietest, the cabinet didn't vibrate like the others, and pulled more water than the others. So paying the extra 30-50 bucks for the GE was well worth it......

Rated 5 out of 5Â by JimS Great 70-Pint Dehumidifier
I had another brand 70-Pint dehumidifier die on me after 12 years of use and had to replace it. I wanted to replace it with the same brand but had no luck finding that make anywhere, even online. After researching several different brands I decided to get the GE and Home Depot had it in stock at the local store. This thing is amazing!! My unfinished basement is 1150 sq ft and I went for about a week without a dehumidifier running at all. I pulled the GE out of the box, plugged it up and turned it on and it was full in less than 8 hours. The controls are easy to use and very straight forward. I have it set to 45% humidity and the unit will keep it there so long as I keep the bucket empty so it can run. Iâve read reviews where some people think this unit is loud, mine is not. I canât hear it upstairs at all, I have to open the basement door and listen to see if it running. The old unit, I could hear it anywhere inside the house! I love the GE and hope it lasts for years to come.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Scottie Dehumidifies but hose option not working
We bought this dehumidifier to drain into our condensate pump. We have followed all the directions and still the bucket fills instead. It is working so efficiently that I have to dump the bucket 1 to 2 times a day. I called GE to determine why the drain feature is not working. I got a vague explanation that the hose has to be on perfectly. I don't know how to make it any more perfect. Hoses are not complicated!! There were long silences and holds which made me think the tech was reading and then I was disconnected. Very frustrated!!!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by RPrieto Good and Healthy purchase!!!
The dehumidifier is great to take out the excess of humidity in my house, which is related with my son's respiratory issues that appear every winter (he is just 2 year old). We don't know if it was a coincidence but since we begin using it he stopped having those coughing episodes and his running nose and mucus were reduced quickly.
We were concern on how much the energy bill was going to be but, we don't care about it, looking him feeling better worth it.
Definitely we recommend it.
