Hi nance-this is Sue from GE Appliances. For best performance when using a recirculating charcoal filter, it will need to be replaced periodically. Charcoal filters cannot be cleaned. A few tips on recognizing when a charcoal filter should be replaced: When the filter fills with cooking grease. If upon using the vent system, odors detected are different from the foods which are being cooked. This would suggest a build-up of heavy grease which has trapped previous cooking odors in the filter. If the entire surface area of the charcoal filter appears to be shiny, this would suggest the presence of a heavy grease build-up since the filter's surface normally appears as dull and porous. 15" Cabinet Depth

Our cabinets are 12" deep except for the cabinet above the stove from which the microwave will hang. This cabinet is 15" deep and sits proud of the surrounding cabinets for architectural effect. The unit will hang on an interior partition wall so outside venting is not feasible.

What are my options for venting this microwave?

Answer:
Hi JMB, I am happy to help. You can install your microwave in a 15 inch cabinet with a 15 inch cabinet over the range bump out kit. The part number is JX15BUMPBB. You can install as a recirculating or external vent. I hope this helps. Thank you for checking with us.

Our top cabinets are only 12" deep. Does the 15" depth measurement include the handle? Is the overhang necessary for the ventilation?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by really happy with this product very easy to use everyone really likes my kitchen. This microwave has alot more features than my old one.my old one was 14 years old August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great micro I really like my new micro. Easy to use & works perfectly. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by much better than our old one We bought this because our old microwave was starting to have issues. So far this one has been great. Heats up beverages and different plates of food perfectly. I like the different levels of light and ventilation. It wasn't hard to install even though our wall and cabinet were already full of holes from the last install. The cord was slightly shorter which was very close to being a big problem. It looks great with our new slate range. December 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Big step up We replaced our other hood microwave because we went with this new color. Love the color and this unit has more features than the old unit. The fan is much more powerful. I'm not sure if the mic works faster than the old one, it seems to but we really only replaced it for the color. Even though I was replacing an existing unit I would recommend paying the money to have them do the install. It wasn't to hard but was not the same hanger and required the template and drilling and drywall anchors to install the different hanger for this unit. It would have been money well spent. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Less than 1 year old and nothing but problems. In 10 months I have had a wire harness, main circuit board and overload replaced. That worked for about 2 months and now the microwave wont heat any food. Today was the 4th day I had to take off work to have it serviced. Of course the parts needed to be ordered so I will have to take a 5th day off of work when they arrive. Total it has been about 5 weeks that I had no working microwave. I am very disappointed in this product and look forward to the day I get to take it outside with a sledgehammer. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Adora microwave. September 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love my Adora Microwave. Had an Adora Range Microwave and it just died after about 10 years. Wanted to replace it with like product so as to match my range. Very happy as it fit like a glove and even got to use the old bracket therefore taking less installation time. Extremely happy. September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible GE Customer Service After I installed the microwave and opened the door, I discovered numerous small black specs on the white door frame which is the sealing surface for the door. They were areas where the paint was chipped. GE customer service refused to correct the problem because they do not care about "cosmetic" issues. I recommend you thoroughly inspect all surfaces (interior and exterior) for damage upon delivery. Do not accept delivery of any appliance with cosmetic damage because GE will not cover it under the warranty. I refuse to purchase GE appliances in the future because of their lack of concern for the customer and will let everyone I know about their policy. January 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by new micro bought to replace a ge that was 20+ years old and had been moved 3 times. new one is almost the same layout for the keys. August 18, 2016
