How long is the wash cycle ?

Asked by: Tsippy
It can vary depending on what cycles you include. We typically include the sanitize and steam cycles so it is 246 minutes. That is easily the longest possible wash in the machine. You can do quick washes that are much shorter though. I think you can wash dishes in less than an hour if you do a quick wash.

How do you know what the dishwasher is doing when controls are on the top?

I've never owned a dishwasher where the controls aren't in the front, and the one I have now actually counts down the cycle time, which is awesome, but I don't think that's an option on even the front-control GE models in this color (slate#. Once you set the wash cycle, what type of indication is there that the dishwasher is running #aside from the noise, of course#? I'm assuming there's a light in the front - does the light change when the dishwasher goes from "cleaning" to "finished"? Is there any indication regarding what the dishwasher is doing #i.e., steaming, drying)? Thanks in advance!
Asked by: PotentialBuyer
Amber light comes on when cycle starts If you get down low near the crack between the door and the case you can see the settings you started the dishwasher cycle while running and see the time remaining.

What dish detergents are recommended beyond the cascade pods?

It is brand new and I run the hot water for 2 minutes before the cycles and after each cycle the cascade pod is not dissolved. I even check mid cycle to make sure the water is still hot.
Asked by: Lauren
I gave up on the pods. The were not very efficient. We now use the Cascade liquid and have had no issues.

Adora Top Control Dishwasher in Black with Stainless Steel Tub and Steam PreWash is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 128.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Detergent cups poor quality The dishwasher was great for about 9 months. After that, the dispensing cup failed to open, even when manually pushing the button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm Impressed so far I've had the dishwasher only 2 weeks now... I bought it at a "special buy" price so there was quite a savings... it is so quiet you truly don't know it's running... every once in a while you hear "something" then you realize it's the dishwasher... it gets the dishes clean and dry (as long as you remember to use the "heated dry" option :-) ... I love that you can wash just the top rack if you want to... it's tall enough to accommodate all my tall items without getting in the way of the top spray arm. As a trade off for that, the door opens "way down to the floor" so you have to bend over quite far to lift the door (thus allowing my little doggie to get into things...) that is the only "complaint" I have if you can call it that...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Dishwasher If you purchase this dishwasher, you must first make sure you clean your dishes before you load them in. I have owned this for 6 months now, and often have to run dishes through twice to get them clean. The soap dispenser does not consistenly open with liquid soap. The bottom rack is poorly laid out to get the dishes to lean forward to get water spray. It runs much longer than the Maytag I replaced it with. If you put silverware in the row of the rack that is closest to the door when it is closed, you can not get the door to close all the way. I don't often write reviews, but I was compelled to let everyone know bad this machine is.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wish I had returned it Let's see if I can effectively put into words how much I despise this dishwasher... We've had this dishwasher for three months now. It was a decent price and we liked the buttons on the top (we have little kids who like to push buttons literally and figuratively). Not long after getting it I started to have second thoughts. I now wish I would have sucked it up and returned it. I had to bump the settings up to get most of the dishes clean (I'd say I can get about 80% of our dishes clean now). This particular cycle takes three hours. I don't know how the dishwasher works when it's closed, but I envision GE put one of those tiny squirt guns in there from the dollar store and it just kinda comes out when I shut the door and squirts the dishes. We refer to it as our 'dish rinser' and I have to remind my teenage daughter she needs to wash her dishes before putting it into our 'dish rinser'. The utensil rack in the front seemed like a novel idea, until I ran my first set of dishes and realized the sprayers can't even reach the utensils effectively. AND...if I don't position the utensils *just right* the door won't shut all the way. The interior of the dishwasher door is scratched up because the utensils rub right up against it. THEN...the door might shut. But it might not. But either way I won't know because the cycle will still start! Which means I have water dripping out the sides of the machine onto my floor. OR...it will pop open mid cycle and I'll come back three hours later and find out 0% of my dishes have been cleaned. This is by far the worst appliance I have ever bought and I will definitely think twice before purchasing another GE product again. A shame because we are planning on updating all of our appliances soon. This dishwasher included.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please DO NOT BUY a GE DISHWASHER I bought this dishwasher February 2014. Issues with door staying closed right from the beginning. Called GE expecting support. 4 visits from their technicians and still not fixed. The technicians keep coming up with all different reasons to fix it but they are slip shod .... For instance one guy removed all the top gaskets. The next two guys cut of sections of the bottom gasket. So, now, the door still doesn't want to shut and it is now very LOUD. I've called GE repair and customer relations a total of 6 times. GE keeps saying that if the tech says its fixed then they can't do anything. All the tech's "fixes", however, only last a day or two and then we start having issues again. The last 3 calls yesterday GE said the tech would call their GE engineer line and either fix it or agree to replace it. First the tech said he didn't know the number. Then when I called GE in his presence he still refused to call the number. So, I called Ge again in his presence and they said there was nothing they can do. So, I will be filing a claim with the BBB and as many online spots as I can think of.... And I will never buy another GE appliance again. Please beware.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from absolutely the WORST If there was zero stars I would give it that! I have had this dishwasher for less than 2 years and while many of the complaints others have mentioned (have to set it at "heavy" to get dishes clean, etc) ring true, I am most frustrated by the fact that it is broken all together now. I have had a repair company out here several times and each time one part that needs to be fixed leads to another. GE is aware of the parts negatively affecting each other and even though I haven't had to pay more for each additional part, I have been left without a dishwasher for many weeks now, waiting on the hope they might send the right part! I also have review in for the other appliances that came with this "package" we bought, which are equally disappointing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and hard-working We have been using this dishwasher for over a month now. It is MUCH quieter than our old model - you can hardly tell that it is running. It does a great job getting dishes clean on top and bottom racks. The Slate color and top controls look great too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Dishwasher This is a great dishwasher. All the people complaining about it not drying the dishes--if you use the heated dry it DOES dry them. Of course, if you have a deep depression in a cup or dish, there may be some moisture. but the heated dry WORKS! The non-heated dry is just that....air dry. It even says to open the door to assist in drying. So, read the manual. The dishwasher is SO quiet, has great features, and is beautiful in the slate color. Yes, it takes a long time for the cycles to complete, but I don't see why that is an issue if you are wanting to let the appliance do the work of cleaning the dishes. My husband is very handy and always installs our appliances. He said this was more difficult that some to install, so his experience was very helpful in getting it installed. If you aren't handy, have someone else install it. This is my second Adora purchase. I really like the quality, My slate French-door refrigerator is 2 years old and works flawlessly. I highly recommend the ADORA line.
