The knockouts came in two sizes, one for the included strain relief, one much larger.
The only knockout in range of my wiring was the large one and as such I had to scavenge the feed-through from the old fixture being replaced.
One of the posts for fastening the wiring cover fell out. Once I found it and reinserted it it worked well enough.
I can imagine a first-timer DIY type having some difficulty with the install.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CheriinMississippi Great light, great price
Bought this to replace a halogen 3 light track light and love it. In less than a week the track light had one of the 3 bulbs burned out. So hot I was afraid it would melt my coffee pot so it had to do. I was uneasy with the amount of heat it gave and it had to go. I chose this light and it is soooooo much better. It has sturdy metal chassis and plenty of light. Light is spread evenly under my counter. This one came with the bulb so that made price even better. Rocker switch is great. The design is simple and sleek. I did not hardwire. I bought a good quality 8 foot 3 prong extension cord from HD. I cut the cut the extension part off, wired in into the light and ran it through the cabinet and out the side to plug in behind my fridge. A lot cheaper than calling an electrician to hardwire it. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. This light would be great under cabinets, in a pantry, a work bench, in a closet or anywhere you need a good bright wide span of light. It does not run hot so it is not a fire hazard. No hum or noise to deal with. I love it.

I have several of these in my kitchen mounted under the upper cabinets to provide additional countertop lighting. The were easy to install. Mine are hardwired into an existing switch. I installed them approx. 15 months ago. They are used daily and still have the original bulbs.

We considered more expensive choices that were recommended to us but felt these would light our kitchen counters adequately. We are quite pleased how they lighten the dark granite and dark tile back splash and bring out the colors in the tile. We enjoy the pleasing lighting they bring to the counter areas. My husband had no problem installing them, though he does know how to do electrical wiring.

We purchased this fixture to provide light in our pantry. It replaced one which gave up in less than two years (ugh!). We had it installed by our local handyman and it went up easily. My only complaint is that the light is not as bright as I would like in the enclosed space, certainly not as bright as the previous fixture's bulb. So, even though it works perfectly, coming on consistently every time the pantry door is opened (which is at least 50 times a day), I only gave it a rating of 4 stars as I would like to replace the bulb with something brighter -- if I could be sure that the fixture could handle it . . .

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ssheyn yes, but be very careful with tube diffuser shield cover - EXTREMELY fragile
Goof light but cover very unsupported and fragile. Cracked taking out of the packaging. Underengineered.

these are just standard lighting. I was going to get one of the 13 dollar ge lights that is also a 18 inch t8, they are made of plastic and come with a cord. this is made of metal but does not have its own cord.
I expected it would have a heavy duty universal ballast like commercial or professional lights I have purchased in the past, but no it just has a simple cheap one in a plastic case in the light fixture.
the only difference between this and the plastic fixtures ge makes is this has a metal case.
the store inventory said they had 3 of the plastic fixtures in stock .
but when they could not find any, they sold me this one for the same price.
lucky I have extension cords I sacrifice as replacement lamp cords, to wire in a plug for it.
how ever I would not pay 20 dollars for this fixture as I have gotten commercial light fixtures for that price with a quality ballast.
this is why I am only going to give it 2 stars and when I do need to get some more 24 inch light fixtures I'm not getting ge advantage, I'm going back to the commercial fixtures I got in the past.
glad I got this one by mistake so to speak before getting a ge 24 inch advantage.

We purchased 4 of these lights for under cabinet lighting in our kitchen. 2 of them had defective bulbs included from the factory and 2 also had defective on/off switches. When they were installed, the lights took 15 seconds to come on and once they were going the hum was very audible - similar to being inside an airplane. We will be returning these. The GE Premium line of flourescent lights (green box, same size) have been installed and work very well - they are quiet and quick to warm up. Spend the extra 10 bucks and get the premium. The Advantage line may be better suited to garage or basement use.
