Just what we were looking for ....a way to turn the outside garage lights on and off - dusk to dawn - with a photocell socket. economical and works great!

Tried to install on a deck light to make it a night light. I could not get it to turn off during midday sunlight.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Landlord Disappointing product, time consuming continuous adjustments
I purchased 6 of these light controls and only opened one! After days of adjusting the filters to activate dusk and dawn on / off I am not satisfied that they will work in the exterior fixtures. The light control filters must all be pointed in the same direction, which is impossible on 6 exterior pole lights. The adjustment filters really don't help and the light is on far earlier than dusk and far later than dawn. Just not a good product for the price, I will be returning all 6 and hoping for a better product (most likely a different brand)

The sensor on this is quite large and it worked in an area that I needed a dusk to dawn exterior light. Other models did not work and would run 24x7 as a result. This sensor was so sensitive that it picks up the indirect light in this tough spot and works great. It also comes with fitting to reduce the light coming ionto the sensor if you are in a well lit area. A great buy!

Works a little too well. I have to use the filters to block the light the bulb creates on its own. Without a filter it will keep turning on and then trip itself off.

There has been a lot of crime in my neighborhood as of late. These photo cells will help in deterring the individuals who cause the problem. If you work at night these cells are for you.

I am trying to use it for a compact fluorescent light. The light never goes off. It is noon now with bright sunlight. I am going to cut the shielding protective of the photosensor to try to get more light to the photosensor in an effort to make it work. You would think in this day and age of energy shortage, and expensive energy a switch like this could and would be available.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MissNancy Flickers if you use a fluorescent light bulb
I put it in my outside side garage light that has a fluorescent bulb. It flickered and looks like a strobe light and drives you crazy. The eye/sensor was facing the garage when I screwed it in and that caused it to think it was dark and the light came on way too early. The excessive length caused the bulb to hang down really far below the fixture and looks ridiculous! I switched to a smaller halogen bulb, but still hangs down too far and still looks ridiculous below the fixture. I decided to purchase an expensive LED, which is a lot smaller bulb and it would not turn on at all! Using a halogen bulb is really expensive and defeats the purpose of saving money. Did no one ever think to test it with several types of bulbs? Back to the drawing board!
