Answer:
Hi DT- This is Sue at GE Appliances. The Humidity Sensor feature detect the increasing humidity released during cooking. The oven automatically adjusts the cooking time to various types and amounts of popcorn being cooked so the time can vary. The average time is approximately 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 minutes. Thanks for checking with us!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 124 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Features We bought this with several other GE appliances and really love the series. So far I'm really enjoying all the functions and how quiet it is! August 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Microwave Microwave came with new house package. It has a convection feature, but we have only used to reheat. August 8, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Only seen online I just purchased the cafe micro convection. I was bummed I could only see this online. No stores carry countertop micro convection ovens. Even with my measurements this one is still not as wide on the outside as well as inside. I used to be able to put a pizza pan in my 2000 sharp carousel. The display is not very fancy for something this expensive. With all that said I have not had a chance to use it other than reheat. I hope to be able to give it a high rating but only time will tell. Restocking fees now days are out of sight. Stay tuned for my decision! June 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Really using the convection feature When shopping for a new microwave I decided to purchase one with a convection option. I had been using a GE microwave for 11 years and was very happy with it. I must say that I prefer the keypad on my other microwave to this dial / button format, but I have adapted. When baking quantities for two I am using it exclusively. Bought a new GE oven with convection at the same time and I have used it 2 or 3 times in the 6 months that we have had these, I use the convection feature of the microwave at least 3 times a week. Another design feature that I would prefer to have is a rack that slides into the walls of the microwave. The existing turntable with round rack limits the type of baking pan that you can use - a rectangular baking sheet cannot make the turn. To solve this, when I want to use a rectangular baking sheet I remove the glass turntable and place the round raised rack on the floor of the unit so the rack does not rotate. That works, of course you are limited to a small baking pan due to the size of the oven, but since I most often make a small quantity this works. When baking larger quantities I can use my oven. This microwave takes a long time to preheat and so does the new GE oven. I am not convinced that the convection shortens baking time. Six months in I am happy with my purchase. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent multi-purpose use and features! I was so happy to find this product as a smaller size than a built in. Great versatility in in features! July 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to operate Very quiet microwave convection oven, even a kid can make it work, but watch out you don't want your kids to operate it. June 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by well, not so easy to use it for me. Well, i bought it about 4 months ago but i didnt have the opportunity to install it because i was under co struction. May 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by New Microwaves Are Awesome I'm replacing a pretty old GE microwave, which worked fine, but like the rest of our appliances was about 20 years old. So of course the new one is great, and I'm glad we opted for the convection option. But I do miss being able to add time to the cook time while it's cooking, which this does not. And while it looks nice, needing to use a dial instead of punching in numbers on a keypad isn't ideal, but surprisingly it's not that bad either. Most of all, it works great. April 27, 2016
