Love the appliance in general - could have been 5 stars! Great features, great appearance, well designed inside and out. We had some minor issues with inside trim defects, which were resolved quickly to our complete satisfaction, right after delivery.
Unfortunately, about 5 months after arrival, the temperatures in both compartments rose to the extent it stopped making ice. After three warranty service visits and much spoiled food it was determined that a critical valve in the coolant loop was installed backward. It was flipped around and all has been well, since. This defect should have been caught in Quality Assurance before shipping.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sanman7905 Nice refrig but....
Renovated kitchen - bought GE Cafe Nov 2014 - not too happy with it since ice gets stuck in the bin, constantly taking it out and removing clumped ice. Thought maybe since I didn't use ice in winter months but same issue during summer and I use ice on regular basis. The Loud Noise from the refrig is annoying - this started about 6 months after purchase. Noise stops when door is opened, but starts up again when closed. During the day, I will open and close door just to stop annoying sound. This was an expensive appliance and it doesn't live up to its name!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KMRM Disappointed with GE
We have had this unit for 1 year and have had 3 service calls to fix various problems. One problem was a loud motor, and the motor was replaced. The other problem is that every few months the groceries in the fresh food area freeze solid for multiple days, and sometimes frost forms on the ceiling, walls and food in the fresh food area. GE has been not successful and I would say difficult in resolving this problem, and will not give me a clear answer on if they will pay for additional service calls if the freezing continues now that the warranty has expired. I would not buy this unit because of the multiple problems I have had with it and I would stay away from other GE products due to GE's lack of knowledge in servicing their products.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by maxx EXCELLENT! After 2 LG Refrigerators failed in a row!
This refrigerator is amazing!
a. HIGH quality stainless steel -- cleans easy
b. hot and cold on the door!
c. it measures the water output!
d. the lights are not glaring in your face like the LG
e. service is fast and easy -- unlike LG
f. the freezer bins are great -- LG has poor design -- stuff falls off narrow trays
g. open door alarm sound is not obtrusive like LG
h. this GE Cafe refrigerator costs $900 LESS than LG and is the differences in quality and design are extreme!
LG is omnipotent and stubbornly refuse to stand behind a host of really bad products.

I recently bought a GE Cafe refrigerator and after a short while it started to make loud noises which sound like a pot of coffee percolating. The noise is pretty constant. After many calls with GE, they said that this was as "designed" and they would not do anything to fix the problem. Seriously, stay away from this refrigerator.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by motogirl Noisy, unreliable, and bad warranty
GE appliances have really gone downhill. I've had several GE Profile refrigerators in the past with no problems until this one. From day 1, this refrigerator is much louder than any other one I've had. The hot water feature is completely useless since it takes a really long time to heat up and only makes a very small cup of hot water. The second cup doesn't take as long but who wants to wait 20 minutes for 2 small cups of hot water? So we never end up using this feature at all.
Now, 1 year and 4 months after install, the freezer stopped working due to a faulty freezer fan and the GE technician says this isn't covered under the 5 year limited warranty for the sealed refrigeration system. According to the diagnostic tool the technician used, the refrigerator fan is about to die as well but due to a massive number of these failing, GE is replacing them free of charge but not officially calling it a recall. With all the known issues with the GE Cafe fans, you'd expect that the freezer fan would be covered as well but it isn't and will have to be repaired at my cost. How does that even make sense?
With the high cost of the GE Cafes, you'd think GE would stand behind their products and warranty. Instead, they've discontinued this model and have left their existing loyal customers holding the bag. Beware of buying any GE refrigerators unless you want it to break just after the 1-year warranty ends. They just don't make them like they used to.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kwadublin Seems to be a great cabinet depth refrigerator so far!
We wanted a cabinet depth refrigerator as we don't like our fridge sticking out too far from the cabinets. We had a GE prior to this one and I swore I would never buy another GE refrigerator again. It was about 10 years old and was their top of the line cabinet depth back then. Thank goodness for extended warranty as we had numerous calls on it which unfortunately continued after when we had to pay about another $400 to keep it running. Ferraris have this sort of maintenance needs, not GE appliances....
I was looking at Samsung and LG options and was sold on going that route when my wife found this model online. I was not thrilled about it, but agreed to look at it since she liked the looks and features. A local large box home appliance retailer said they could get it for me and the price was right - with their 5 year extended warranty - so I went ahead with it.
So far it has been a very nice refrigerator. I really like the LED lighting. It really lights up the interior so much better than the old incandescent bulbs of the past. And it gives it a rich look. The LCD panel on the front is an attractive feature and does things like tell you how much water you're dispensing in ounces. Very nice, for example, if you want need 8 ounces of water. It counts it off for you.
It runs quiet and efficiently. The ice maker works very well. It took about 8 to 12 hours before ANY ice was made so don't be alarmed if you don't see any ice making activity for the first 6 or 8 hours. I was ready to call service on this but it must take time for it to get started. (Yes, I know ice doesn't freeze instantly.... It just seemed to be a long time until ANY was made.)
The freezer has multiple levels and 2 pull out drawers, so organizing your food should be easy. Going from a side-by-side to this will take some getting used to, but we don't have a ton of freeze stuff and we have a second refrigerator in the garage where we keep items less often used, so ours is still mostly empty. You will have to judge this based on your own habits.
The "fun" feature is the ability to use the LCD panel as an electronic picture frame. I am a gadget person so I tried this out. There is a USB port under a rubber cover where the ice/water dispense. THIS IS NOT documented in the manual so I had to find it on my own. It immediately recognized the drive and uploaded them. When you use the panel for water or ice, it will then display your pictures for some period of time (not sure how long - 10 minutes maybe?) Unfortunately GE engineers don't allow any customization of this feature. It's just an upload and display item; you can't adjust anything on how they display. There is NO documentation in the manual that I could find so if you like this feature you will have to sort this out on your own.
Overall our first month has gone well. The store explained that the manufacture of GE refrigerators has moved from Mexico back to the US and they've seen an uplift in quality. (I did look and my old GE was made in Mexico and this one is made at Appliance Park in Kentucky.) So will see how that plays out long term. Given the Café line is supposed to be their best, I anticipate much better service than the Artica model I had before.

The fridge is great. There are so many amazing features I didn't even know about until I started messing around with it. Make you sure you allow about 40" of clearance so that the doors open all the way.
