Hello MMM - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This range does not have a downdraft exhaust fan. The oven is vented in the center of the backsplash area. This will cause that area of your cooktop to feel warm and may even seem to be turned on. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Will I be able to light the burners in a power outage?

The manual says there is an auto-lock option and "memory is retained after a power outage." I am guessing that means the burners cannot be manually lit during a power outage. Thank you.

If the oven is in use when a power failure occurs, the oven burner shuts off and cannot be re-lit until power is restored. This is because the flow of gas is automatically stopped and will not resume when power is restored until the glow bar has reached operating temperature. Thanks for checking with us! Read Less

In the real world, what this means is that, when converted to LPG, the upper burners lose most of the adjustment capabilities that make gas oven such a pleasure. The flame will adjust over only the last 1/2 to 1/3 of the knob's travel. The same pressure difference causes the ovens to heat unevenly. Baking a frozen pizza, for example, one side will be burned; The other will be barely cooked. Rotating the foods while cooking helps, but is a pain. Read Less

I have purchased a ge gas range and was told both oven were gas but the lower over drawer in my current range is electric (110) and takes over 30 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees which is way to slow. What I have is a glorified storage drawer and I want to make sure I'm actually getting two good working ovens as I was promised.

Answer:
Is it possible that your lower drawer is just a warming drawer (keep food warm before you're ready to serve it), not a cooking oven, and therefore is not meant to heat up to 350 but maybe could if you really pushed it? My 10-year old GE Spectra oven has the warming drawer feature and I only use it to store baking sheets and cast iron pans. That is commonly what people use their warming drawer for :-)

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 519 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE it i have had this range for 6-8months and love it. i would never go back to anything other than gas. the stove is very heavy duty and perfect for what i wanted. everyone that has seen it has commented on how nice it looks too. my husband ok'd for me to order a bigger range like this but i could not justify paying 7k+ for a range. this one has an awesome look and so easy to clean. i will say the lower oven is useless as it takes way too long to preheat. when i have just one small dish to cook i use a counter top conv oven instead. my only other complaint is i wish the timer and preheat beeper was a tad louder but def not a deal breaker. i read endless reviews on all types of ranges so wanted to take the time to write this one on how happy i am with my purchase. i would buy it again tomorrow! also, in the pics below the side of the range exposed was black. i painted it grey to match cabinets. yes, you can paint metal. it is perfect! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fancy/looks nice/poor quality/abominable service Purchased this very expensive stove, when installed the left front "power boil" burner has 4 inch flames exceeding the grill on the right side of the burner and no flames on the left side of the burner. GE Certified Technician was sent to repair, ordered new parts telling me the orifice holes were improperly drilled. He ordered new parts and came to my home 3 weeks in a row. Each new part was worse than the original. GE Customer Care told me "That's as good as it gets" and refused to send out another technician. When the burner did not light at all on the left side the Technician came again. He phoned 3 Other GE Certified Technicians from my home and they all told him the problem was not fixable. My husband and I googled the problem and found numerous other Purchasees who had the same problem and posted the problems on UTUBE. DON'T Purchase this Stove, or other GE Products as they are completely unwilling to resovle their problems. December 29, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Looks pretty; nice features; poor build quality I bought all GE Cafe appliances (so they'd match). The dual oven range is nice; it offers a lot of flexibility. Odd that the top oven is an old-school twist knob operation, while the lower oven is a touchpad. The finish looks great for about a month, but the stainless steel is disappointingly soft and will scratch with even the lightest touch. Shame on GE when I'd expect them to know that pots and pans frequently visit the surfaces, and given that they touch hot flames, they're going to be made out of hard materials. Even everyday cleaning (using soft materials only; no abrasives) has left fine scratches on the surfaces. After only 2 years, I'm wanting a new range if only for not having something that's all scratched up (and I'm very careful about how I use/clean this appliance). I've also had one of the flame distributors fail (fire was only exiting 1/4 of the circle), so that needed replacement. I would not recommend this range/oven; spend your hard-earned money elsewhere and learn from my mistake. September 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nicest Range Ever My previous range would heat the whole kitchen when the oven was on for more than 30 minutes. This one is better insulated and doesn't have the save effect. Cleaning this range is truly easy as all the burner parts just pop into the dishwater and the stainless steel top is easy to wipe up. I've been delighted with the convection operation for both baking and roasting. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst range ever! I remodeled my kitchen the first time I used my New G.E. cafe series double oven range it suffered multiple failures. First the upper oven control knob failed, after using the upper oven I turned it off, I noticed after dinner that the oven was still cycling only to discover the knob to be frozen and would not move. Second after removing what I cooked in the lower oven the door would not close. For the price you would think it would last more than 1 use. Highly disappointed at having to wait a week for service as well. I cannot recommend this piece of garbage to anyone! March 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loads of oooos and ahhhs Excellent gas range! Just what we were looking for to add to our new kitchen remodel. Everyone wants their turn to fix dinner now! Loads of oooos and ahhhs on this one! July 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Manufacturing defect, GE refuses to repair Digital control panel has failed twice in two years. This time, the independent repair company that GE directed me to says that it cannot be repaired. They have advised people to return to store. GE has flatly refused to send a GE repairman at all. Frankly, don't buy anything from GE. You'll regret it. May 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY THIS - WORST PRODUCT AND SERVICE EVER FROM GE!!!! We purchased the complete set of GE CAFE line for our kitchen one year ago. We have had nothing but problems with this gas range from day one. The other products have had little to no issues. The gas range is poorly engineered and manufactured. The light bulbs go out within a few days of replacing them. We have had the light bulb casings replaced. We have had the lightbulb replaced by GE at least 4-5x. The bottom door of the oven had to be replaced because the glass pulled away from the casing for an unknown reason (no damage on our part). The top oven has now begun to heat up much slower then when it was initially purchased a year ago. It takes at least double the time to heat. The burners on top typically will light right away except one burner. Half of the flames do not appear when lit on this burner. I have to turn it off and on a few time in order to work properly. We have called GE many times and every time they send a tech and things get replaced but we continue to have problems. They even admit that the product is deficient and therefore, sent us a "letter of commitment" to continue to send out techs for free. Basically an extension of the manufacturer's warranty. The experience with GE customer service reps are poor. The reps know little to nothing about the products. Some are professional and others will be dismissive and rude. We have always been polite and never rude to the reps answering the phones. We have called GE and now they will send a tech and get the engineers involved. UGH. Lesson learned. We will never buy a GE stove again. Looking to replace this oven with a higher quality item. April 5, 2016
