Answer:
I've had the same issue with my dishwasher. I use jet dry, which helps with the white film on the plastic cooking utensils. The dishes are still wet after the cycle has completed. Please contact customer service so they can document these issues. If GE gets enough complaints maybe they'll make changes to their dishwashers. Good luck!

Check the water temperature with a candy or meat thermometer. Turn on the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher, place the thermometer in a glass and let the water run continuously into the glass until the temperature stops rising. Rinse agents, such as Cascade® Complete Rinse Aid are designed for great drying action and to protect against spots and film build-up on your dishes, glasses, flatware, cookware, and plastic.

The door falls open quickly and the handle hits the floor because it is so heavy. It fell open and the handle hit my foot last night. It hurt and I cant imagine what would happen to my cat if she were under there!
Any way to adjust the door springs?

Hi Evergreen- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear of this unfortunate incident and can certainly understand your concern. If the door opens easily or falls too quickly, check spring cable routing. This should be checked during initial installation of the dishwasher. Answer:
Hello Gail - This is Michelle with GE Appliances. Please try these steps: 1) Place the spray arm onto the hub. 2) Turn the spray arm counter-clockwise while holding the hub. 3) Without forcing, it should just snap into place. If that does not work, we must recommend scheduling service. Thank you for checking.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Dishwasher We purchased this dishwasher 2 months ago and have had GE over twice since then and have them scheduled for a third time. The dishwasher simply doesn't work. There is apparently a bad connection when the door closes and to make matters worse , the GE servicemen come, refuse to fix anything, look for excuses to leave and don't do their job unless they get a hefty 'tip'. Even then, they couldn't fix it. Would NEVER buy any GE product again and this is1100.00 thrown in the garage. June 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's alright I just thought for that kind of money it would be better. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best dishwasher ever This dishwasher was purchased 2/16. We use it primarily on heavy cycle with steam and sanitize cycle. It has cleaned everything we have put into it. Pyrex baking dishes with burnt on BBQ sauce was no match for this machine. We just scrape off the excess food into the trash and that's it! April 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unfortunately unreliable We purchased a brand new home and opted for the GE Café appliances for the entire kitchen. While we were initially excited, the overall craftsmanship and quality is nowhere near the value it should be for a $1000+ dishwasher. We just eclipsed 2 years and the dishwasher is COMPLETELY dead. GE only offers a 1 year warranty on their products. One would think you should get more use out of a $1200 dishwasher than 2 years with only 2 people living in the house. With that said, the dishwasher is incredibly quiet, it did an okay job washing the dishes. There were times we would need to re-run things a few times however I don't see us ever buying a GE product again. I think there are many, many more reliable options especially in this price bracket. My $200 dishwasher going on 12 years in my rental home has proven to be far more superior than this glorified stainless money pit November 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy camper! I spent a little extra to have a CAFE line appliance, matching my refer and range. Installation was a snap connecting the included supply and discharge plumbing to the locations my old D/W was. The "Quick Start" instructions gave me the info I needed to run a quick test - priming the pump, running a test cycle, checking for leaks. All worked as expected. The one thing I didn't anticipate was that new, high efficiency appliances can take a longer time to cycle than what I was used to. My old (1989) dishwasher ran a full cycle in about 40 minutes. The CAFE, with steam prewash and full dry on normal cycle extended the cycle to about 2 hours. But, with the delayed start feature I can run it when power rates are lowest and when I don't care how long it takes. Overall, I am very happy with my new dishwasher. It looks great. It washes great. And if it last half as long as my last dishwasher. October 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great! I purchased this dishwasher a few months ago and have been very pleased. It's attractive, very quiet and washes very well. I use the dry and sanitize and everything works great. No issues. I'm not sure why people say it doesn't dry well, you just need to read the instructions on how to work it. October 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Dishwasher This has to be one of the quietest dishwashers out there! Looks great, cleans great, what more can one say. October 25, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good features, but problems We have had our Cafe dishwasher for almost two years now. It cleans well and the heated dry function is excellent. However we have had our fair share of issues. Just after the 1 year warranty ran out it stopped draining water. A little bit of investigation found that the float switch needed tightening. Then a few months later the plastic cover on the control panel lifted and broke. Last week the dishwasher stopped filling. I expect this from a $400 machine, but not when I paid over $1,000. It would help if there was more service documentation available, a parts diagram for example. GE must have these but they don't make them public. February 20, 2015
