A month ago, I bought two FXULC replacement filters for my under sink filter system and external ice-cube maker filter system. When I replaced one of these filers, the water flow was extremely slow. I checked many things to find what I did wrong, even replaced the drinking water faucet.. Finally, I decided to test the unit without any filter. The water flow was great. So, I replaced the new filter with the 2nd (new) filter that I have purchased at the same time. Still low flow volume. Thinking that I had purchased two filters from a bad lot, I took them back to store and got two more new ones. Now the faucet had good water flow. I replaced the Ice-cube maker filter and it as well had good flow. So, I had two bad filters.

After installing the filter the water would barely flow out of the tap. After checking all the water lines for obstructions I discovered that I had plenty of flow WITHOUT the cartridge in the filter housing. Called the GE hotline & was told to soak the filter about an hour & then install it. Still had the same problem. I guessed that the hole on each end of the cartridge was too small to let the water flow so I enlarged the holes slightly which solved the problem.

We use this filter in a whole house cartridge (Whirlpool brand) in our bus conversion. It works well, even in areas with questionable water quality. We use a sediment filter before this filter to extend the life a little. We change out the filter every 6 months.

Our water tastes like it came straight from a swimming pool. I've used this filter in a Culligan under-the-sink filter housing as well as a GE Whole House filter housing. The water comes out with no taste, which is exactly what I think water should taste like. I cringe at the price every time I buy a new one, but using a dedicated faucet and shut off valve for the filter it only needs to be replaced twice or maybe three times a year.

I don't like the smell or taste of chlorine in my water, coffee or tea. I'm so glad I installed this filter. I recommend water filters to everyone. This one is especially nice.

I did find any help at the time of this purchase, with my luck it turn out to be the wrong filter the hole in the cartridge is not big enough for the correct flow through the water spout, disappointed in my purchase. Plus the correct model number was not the same as my old filter but the filters were where the model # was posted. I guess i needed to buy the filter with the purple caps on the end.

This is the first filter I bought in years that restricts water flow to such extent. (Is it really necessary?)
It has a plastic wall at the end with little hole that lets very little water through.
