Customer Questions & Answers

why will my sensor not work within 100'

Asked by: gepp
Gepp, thank you for the question. The main reasons for a sensor not to connect to the control center are low battery in the sensor and something interfering with the signal. You can change the battery and see if that helps, if it doesn’t try moving the control center closer to the sensor and see if that works. If moving it closer works then that means there is something interfering with the signal or the signal is having problems making it through the walls from the sensor location and the control enter. Hope this helps, if not you can always contact technical support for more help. Jasco Products Tech Suport(Manufacturer) phone number: 1-800-654-8483 option 1

can it connect to an existing remote monitoring alarm system and function as a reliable device

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi Wireman, Thank you for your question. According to the manufacturer, this sensor is meant only to be used as an extension of the Choice Alert Wireless Security System. The starter kit model number is 45142. It is an additional sensor that can be added to this expandable system. It is not compatible with existing remote monitoring systems because it communicates with using a different proprietary protocol.

does the sensor have an on/off switch on it?

i am looking for window sensors, but most have on/off switches. i do not want it to be disabled without the keypad
Asked by: Anonymous
Hi Beaker, Thank you for your question. The GE 45131 is always active when the battery is inside of the sealed sensor and is unable to be turned off. Please note that this sensor is a part of the GE Choice Alert line and is only compatible with the GE Branded Choice Alert System and is unable to be used with any other alarm system.

Does the GE Choice Alert Window Sensor work with the GE Simon XT Wireless Security System

We have a GE XT Simon Security System and we wanted some window sensors. Will these work with our system?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hi Sharron, Thank you for your question. The GE Choice Alert sensors do not work with the GE Simon XT Wireless Security System. The GE Simon system was developed some time ago with a different communication protocol than that used in the Choice Alert security product. While the GE Choice Alert is wireless and “networked” within your house, it is not a monitored system.

can you tell whether the device is from a controller or do you have to check the device itself?

To know whether the device is activated would i have to go to the device itself and check if the light is on or can i tell from far away?
Asked by: Jerry
Hi Jerry, Thank you for your question. According to the MFG, the Control center for the Choice alert system is divided into 4 zones. When a sensor is activated the zone that it is assigned to will slowly blink to indicate that one of the sensors that has been assigned to that zone is active. Depending on how many sensors you have added to the system this can help determine which sensor has been activated. Hope this helps.

Choice Alert Wireless Alarm System Window/Door Sensor is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised We use these and other devices to monitor access to our home and yard. The two parts of the window/door sensor must be within 1/2 an inch of each other when the door/window is closed or the response is unreliable. 1/2-inch or closer and it works every time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is relatively easy to install and use. While the sensors are easy to install and use, they are somewhat susceptible to false alarm notices because of heating and cooling of surfaces to which they are attached (like metal doors). Alignment can be a bit tricky to maintain. Battery life is as advertised (2 years or so). The sensors are a bit difficult to open for battery replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save your money. We had 3 door sensor installed. The light on the controller blinked constantly after the door was used. Had to reopen and close the door often just to get the red light from blinking. Our home is less than 1200 sq feet so distance wasn't an issue. Just spend your money on the motion sensors for your home. They work great.
