The spec sheet here says that this cook top has two 8 inch burners and one 6 inch burner. On a prior Q&A, "Sue from GE" said that this model had two 6 inch burners and one 8 inch (which is what the picture looks like). (the 4th one on both is listed as 9/12). Which combination is right? Which GE model has two 8 inch burners, we like the larger ones. Thanks

Hello Sabrina,
Thank you for your interest in the GE CleanDesign Radiant Cooktop model # JP356BMBB.
Flat Bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. Medium or Heavy-Weight cookware is best.
Cast Iron cookware is not recommended. If the cookware has a burr or rough spot, it will scratch the glass surface. Additionally, it is slow to absorb heat. Once this type of cookware heats up, especially on high heat, it holds an intense amount of heat which is transferred to the cooktop. This can cause the element to shut down as a response to the temperature limiters which indicate surface temperature is too high for cooktop components to handle.
I personally use a cast iron skillet on mine but do use extreme caution.
Stainless Steel is highly recommended and Heavy-Weight Aluminum cookware is also recommended
I hope this helps!

CleanDesign 30 in. Radiant Electric Smooth Surface Cooktop in Black with 4 Elements is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 130.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a good value This cooktop looks great, and was not hard to install. I was a little shocked, however, when I read the instruction manual and found that it is not recommended for use with cast iron pans. Many advanced cooks love their cast iron pans, as does my wife, and this disappointed us. No reason was given--do they not heat as well, or do they damage the surface of the cooktop? Anyway, we are using cast iron pans and they seem to work satisfactorily on this product. This limitation should have been spelled out more clearly before purchase, however.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice cooktop I've had the cooktop for a couple weeks now, and I'm not sure that's enough time to judge an appliance like this. Given that, it's a good looking item. I wasn't sure I'd like the mottled finish vs. something completely glossy. Now I see a glossy finish would show every smudge. I didn't realize going into it that there are special cleaners for it, but it's easy to do and it looks nice. The elements heat well. The power boil heats pretty fast. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work since it's not mentioned in the instructions. Overall, after two weeks, I'm happy with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate it. I don't know about the other reviews, but keeping this cooktop clean is a headache. I almost do not want to use it because I dread the clean up afterwards. If you spill any food whatsoever on this stove, you have to use ceramic cleaner and a scrubby, then numerous paper towels to eventually buff it all off. What a pain. I will take my old stove over this any time. It was ceramic, too, but could still use plain ole soap and water to clean it. I don't know about others-but I don't like a greasy residue left on my stove overnight-which is what this stove does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Had this cooktop for 17 years and loved it. It has worked great but just wanted an upgrade to a knobless as I was updating my counter tops. Found it very easy to clean but as with all glass tops you have to polish to keep from smearing. Suggest a little Dawn and rinse then buff with paper towels. (If needed)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cracked surface after less than a year use Dont buy this product. We used it less than a year and the glass surface cracked while cooking dinner. The service guy told us we use the wrong pots which have uneven bottom surface which caused uneven heat distribution. We have to buy special pots and pans just to use this cooktop. I told him I will not want to invest another few hundred dollars to buy special pots and pans. I will not recommend if your'e looking to buy one and regret it later.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cook top Stove Our new home is total electric and this is what we were stuck with. Very difficult to clean. I prefer gas cooking over the cooktop.
