The spec sheet here says that this cook top has two 8 inch burners and one 6 inch burner. On a prior Q&A, "Sue from GE" said that this model had two 6 inch burners and one 8 inch (which is what the picture looks like). (the 4th one on both is listed as 9/12). Which combination is right? Which GE model has two 8 inch burners, we like the larger ones. Thanks

Hello Sabrina,
Thank you for your interest in the GE CleanDesign Radiant Cooktop model # JP356BMBB.
Flat Bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. Medium or Heavy-Weight cookware is best.
Cast Iron cookware is not recommended. If the cookware has a burr or rough spot, it will scratch the glass surface. Additionally, it is slow to absorb heat. Once this type of cookware heats up, especially on high heat, it holds an intense amount of heat which is transferred to the cooktop. This can cause the element to shut down as a response to the temperature limiters which indicate surface temperature is too high for cooktop components to handle.
I personally use a cast iron skillet on mine but do use extreme caution.
Stainless Steel is highly recommended and Heavy-Weight Aluminum cookware is also recommended
I hope this helps!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 128 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cooktop I like this cook top because it does not show dirt, dusty and streaks the way the solid black tops do. It has been easy to clean so far. We replaced a 20 year old cook top that still looked like new. It had even more white speckles and I loved it,but we were remodeling. I looked everywhere for another one with speckles and this was as close as I could get. It looks good all the time. May 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Intermitant burner The day it was installed everything worked ......... the third day the largest - 2 zone burner did not work. The next day it was working. Just tried all burners and they are working ............ just that uncertainty in my mind. April 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very good product. My wife and I are very happy with our new Cooktop. It performs exactly as advertised and is easy to clean. The burners and control knobs are situated adequately and do not interfere with each other. May 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love GE Appliances I had this cook top not for a year and it broke 3 times already, it breaks a lot for me and my family because we obviously love to cook all the time (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) so we had to replace it all the time, now were thinking of something more sturdy. it does its job great :) I would recommend this to you buyers out there but just don't put to much or heavy cooking items on top, it may break like mines. Its not really that easy to clean, tried to use a spray clean on it and it doesn't really work either??? Another thing is, its bad to swipe the pot/pan across the cook top because it leaves scratches too. May 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, everday stovetop I know other reviews mentioned it scratches easily, but which stove doesnt scratch at all? I think it has been ok in terms of the scratches given how much I cook. I purchased the black one and it is not that easy to see. Sure it doesn't look brand new anymore...but I'm happy with how fast it heats up. The tempature is not as high as I'd like to be but over all I like the product. It is not the type of stove where I feel that it is too expensive or too fragile to cook. With this stove, I feel comfortable to cook all kinds of things and with all kinds of pots. April 29, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hate it. I don't know about the other reviews, but keeping this cooktop clean is a headache. I almost do not want to use it because I dread the clean up afterwards. If you spill any food whatsoever on this stove, you have to use ceramic cleaner and a scrubby, then numerous paper towels to eventually buff it all off. What a pain. I will take my old stove over this any time. It was ceramic, too, but could still use plain ole soap and water to clean it. I don't know about others-but I don't like a greasy residue left on my stove overnight-which is what this stove does. July 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice cooktop I've had the cooktop for a couple weeks now, and I'm not sure that's enough time to judge an appliance like this. Given that, it's a good looking item. I wasn't sure I'd like the mottled finish vs. something completely glossy. Now I see a glossy finish would show every smudge. I didn't realize going into it that there are special cleaners for it, but it's easy to do and it looks nice. The elements heat well. The power boil heats pretty fast. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work since it's not mentioned in the instructions. Overall, after two weeks, I'm happy with it.  January 26, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a good value This cooktop looks great, and was not hard to install. I was a little shocked, however, when I read the instruction manual and found that it is not recommended for use with cast iron pans. Many advanced cooks love their cast iron pans, as does my wife, and this disappointed us. No reason was given--do they not heat as well, or do they damage the surface of the cooktop? Anyway, we are using cast iron pans and they seem to work satisfactorily on this product. This limitation should have been spelled out more clearly before purchase, however. January 4, 2012
