I removed an old GE electric oven/microwave combo and installed a GE double oven and separate GE microwave above the ovens.
Now that it's done it looks great.
Side vents vs the front vents of other kits are a much cleaner look
Evenly sized kit width to GE ovens
The preparation of the cabinets was long and tideous such as , running the UL wiring circuit for the independent microwave outlet, Cabinet cut out for the trim kit, Precise centering of trim kit and microwave on shelf. (I used the provided pattern and was off by a 1/4 inch).
Value of the trim kit was 2/3 the cost the microwave......GE is making a nice profit for basically some thin stainless fascia, plastic housing and stamped support metal.
Install instructions were somewhat vague and I used a lot more tools than what was recommended in the directions.
Unless the install is cookie cutter expect to spend 70% of your time on the preparation before actual trim kit is installed in the cut-out fro the cabinet .

This trim piece would be ok if the oven were mounted on the wall with top of trim higher than eye level. Unfortunately, our oven is mounted in a cabinet enclosure that is lower. The top of the trim is less than 4 feet above the floor, so standing in front of the microwave, there is a large opening above the trim and you can see all of the mounting hardware, screws, etc on the interior of the trim. The mounting instructions state that you shouldn't block this opening. You need to leave at least one inch clearance so heat can escape. I am now forced to try making some sort of trim piece (that will look good) that I can attach to my cabinet above the metal trim piece that will block this view of the hardware, without blocking the escape of heat and creating a fire hazard. I wish the trim had been designed in a different way, maybe like our previous trim piece that had slots in it for heat escape.

We bought 2 months ago for our remodeled kitchen and are very pleased with how it looks. Looks like it was custom made.

Making sure the right kit was ordered was a little challenging but once I had the correct kit the installation was relatively easy. And it looks great!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bobby A good match for the built-in microwave
The trim kit comes with everything needed to secure the microwave in a built-in cabinet. The trim kit finish matches the microwave perfectly so once all assembled and installed it has an appearance that it is one large built-in appliance.
The only major con is the trim kit stainless steel cladding is affixed to a plastic substrate. When the trim kit is secured to the microwave the plastic distorts giving a bent appearance in the stainless steel cladding. Loosening the securing screws and a pressed rubbing of the stainless steel - I was able to improve the appearance. A material better or more ridged than plastic would make this a quality kit in appearance.

Stainless steel could have been thicker. Pressure from screws warped stainless. Nice otherwise. Pay attention when installing screws.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MJBK Not good quality
This did not fit the microwave it was supposed to fit. At all. When my installer put the micro on the bottom piece that sits in the cabinet, it was totally lopsided. By about an inch. I called GE customer support, and gave them the serial numbers for the micro and the trim kit, and they said it was the right trim kit, but maybe I got a defective piece. I don't know. My professional installer was able to build up one side so the micro was level, but it was a real headache and took a lot of time. Also, the outside trim is plasticy and cheap feeling and shows fingerprints easily.

if I could I'd score this "0" because the mounting bracket of the trim kit does not come close to fitting the microwave.
I thought I'd made a mistake on purchasing the correct model but after verifying on this site and through the webchat option here (btw, they're super helpful - checked extensively for me) as well as the GE site they all recommend this wrong-fitting trim.
for a DIY'er this should be a pretty basic task but....not so much.
