Customer Questions & Answers

can this be used to hook up GE LED 865-006/865-072?

can the direct wire junction box be used to hook up linkable GE LED light bars? Need info ASAP as electrician will be finishing the hook ups in the next few days. I would rather have LED under-cabinet lighting than direct wire fluorescents. House wired such that cannot hook up LEDs in conventional manner with transformers at top of cabinets.

Hi Jack, Thank you for your question. I did reach out to the manufacturer on this question and here is the response to you: "Yes. This is the exact use for which the direct wire junction box is designed. Everything that the electrician will need to make this installation is included with the junction box. Inside the box there are wire nuts, a strain relief and the screws used to mount the box. The LED fixtures and the junction box are available at all Home Depot stores or you can order them online." Hope this helps. For any other information on Home Depot.com, please contact our Online Customer Service department at 800-430-3376.

I bought 3 GE plug-in, linkable, LED Premiun (barcode 30878 26428) under the counter lights. This lights works well using the plug-in why I can not cut the plug and connected directly to the wire and I have to use this box. It makes no sense but.....I am not an electrician just a user. Thank you.

Do I need a conversion box?

My electrician has hard wired for my lights. There is one switch and 8 wires (14/2 w/G) located under our cabinets. Do I really need a conversion box? How many boxes would I really need? If I do, I really would like to know why? Just trying to understand!

I have a string of commercial electric puck lights I wish to put on a dimmer wired in wall. I bought this junction box a

I wired the switch to the box as I would a standard light and still no results. Am I missing some?
Asked by: Casey

Is the voltage output from this box considered to be "low voltage?"

I am interested in covering the cable between fixtures with conduit of some sort. The common wall-mountable aesthetic conduit is for "low voltage" which pertains to circuits lowered in voltage for things like lighting. Does this j-box output at a low enough voltage that I could use this type of conduit?
Asked by: Goupy
Hello Goupy, Great question and Thank you for your interest in our Direct Wire Linkable Junction Box. The output of the Junction Box is not low voltage, its 120v. If you have any further questions, we encourage you to respond or contact our Consumer Service through phone or email. Thank you, By Jasco Tech Support (Manufacturer)

Why use this adaptor? Why not use a generic metal junction box with ground?

Why use this plastic adaptor? Why not use a generic metal junction box with ground? Or, does this adaptor have circuits to protect LEDs? ...or reduce risk of shock? A metal junction box seems to make a more durable and permanent ground connection... unless this adaptor does something besides connect to hot, neutral, and ground. The diagram in the installation guide shows only wire connections. The diagram is attached, as a jpg.
Asked by: ReMuddler
Hi ReMuddler, Great question and thank you for your interest in our Direct Wire Linkable Junction Box! The biggest advantage to using our junction box is to convert from direct wire to our GE Linking system so you do not need to hardwire again. With this all your Linking fixtures can be connected with the GE Linking system. If you have any further questions, we encourage you to respond or contact our Customer Support through phone or email. Direct Wire Linkable Junction Box is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well - slim profile These were easy for my electrician to use for hardware install and much less expensive option when used with the Commercial Electric under counter LED lights than the ones my cabinet vendor had to offer. We purchased the lights that are connectable and can be plugged in or hard wired. CE Slimline LED lights with diffuser and connectors were also purchased from Home Depot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Junction box too small The concept is great for the linked lighting, however when I removed my florescent under the counter lighting unit, I had a black, white, and ground wire protruding from the wall. No problem I thought, I will put a little cable molding to hide the cable, lucky for me we were also tiling our back splash which helped hide the hole. Almost complete I thought but then after stuff the wires through the metal grommet into the junction box it was very difficult to close the enclosure lid due to the small size of the box and the wire nuts. The wire nuts provided were the right size and small, but there just is not enough space for it all. Then when I tried to use the bolts to secure the lid on the container, the bots were one size too big. Fortunately for me I realized that the bolt needed was the standard bolt for cover plates. That worked ok but then I came to a spot that had 2 black, 2 white, and 2 grounds protruding from the wall. I knew that would not fit, so I attempted to link the other lights to this area that is about 30 inches away, and the cable does not reach. So I am stuck until I can get a longer cable, or build my own junction box.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do The plugs/connections to the lights for this work great, although it is pretty pricey for what it does. The direct wiring is simple and comes with everything you need, including a strain relief, although I wish that was a standard size hole. The biggest problem is that it's pretty flimsy plastic for what you're paying for it. I cracked one of the brackets/screw holes that attach to the wall with a moderate amount of force. I also wish it came with a switch on the box or a place to attach two lights (one on each side), but you can connect the lights to each other, so not a deal breaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, easy install. Does the job, easy install, look nice, but hides well behind bottom lip of wall cabinets.
