The FQXVF filter makes water come out of the tap in dripping mode ( I mean very slow), is it normal?

This question is from Dual Stage Drinking Water Replacement Filters (Lead/Cyst/VOC)
Asked by

Since the first day I installed the filter, water flew out normally for two days, then it started dripping whenever I turned on the tap. I wonder is the water quality of my house too poor that it takes so long to filter the water? Or is it normal? Anyway to fix the problem?

PS I am sure it is the right filter for my filtering system.

Answer:
it happened to me last time. It usually means that you need to replace it. The filter is good for 6 months only and the water flow slows down every day since the installation.

We change it about every other month. Our GE under the counter system filters last for several months since we put the GE whole house filter in. I hope this will help you. Read Less

Answer:
It sounds like the filter is plugged. Check the filers and see if you can see any crud in there. If so you might also cincider a whole house filter and replace you FQXVF filters. Check the whole house filter on a regular basis. Also try filling a glass with tap water to see if you can see anything in the water. If you experiance brown water at any time, you would be happy with a whole house filter.

Can the FQSVF be used as a substitute for the FQSLF filter?

This question is from Dual Stage Drinking Water Replacement Filters (Lead/Cyst/VOC)
Asked by

The system I bought calls for the FQSLF filters. I put a pair of FQSVF filters in and the water barely trickles out. There is plenty of pressure at the source. When I turn the filter spigot off, pressure builds but only lasts for a brief moment when I open filter spigot and then reverts back to a dribble. Is it the FQSVF filter or something else?

Hello Thompson, I’m Newf from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
The FQSVF is designed for different systems than the FQSLF.
Using the correct filter replacement, your water filtration system should return to normal operation.
I hope this helps, Newf.

Our GE dual filter system has worked great for many years, but today I have one filter leaking after replacing it. Do you make replacement o-rings? If not what size are they so I can get some new ones.

Answer:
Take 1 "O" Ring Seal to ACE, NAPA, or a Plumber for replacements. Also, each time you change the Filters, coat the "O" Ring Seals with Vaseline for easier replacement of the Filter Element, Plus it makes a better Seal between the Filter Base and the Filter.

None of my local HD stores carry this filter anymore. I bought the fixture at HD and they appear to have abandoned the product line. Is that true? If not, why do the stores not carry the item?
thanks!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GE Dual Stage Filter Purchased this filter product for kitchen remodel 5 years ago. Found this unit to be installed and maintain with ease. I was able to pick it up product at this store with no issues. August 11, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement drinking water filters Good price, fast ship. GE has had chronic manufacturing problems with these filters. Don't buy them elsewhere such as Amazon - in case of a need to return due to these issues, you may have a hassle. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job for good drinking water Unit is very easy to install. No plumbing experience required. The instructions call for a 1" hole to be drilled in sink for faucet. I didn't have a 1" metal drill, but (2) smaller holes worked fine. One complaint; after a year of hard use, the light never came on. July 14, 2016
